You're talking to a Diesel newbie here What is ICP and IPR? I don't have any type of scanner so I would have to go somewhere for that. If by chance the IPR is sticky, is that cleanable too, and if so with what and where is it? Where is the ICP sensor?
I'll take any advice and check anything that is within my abilities
OK gang, looking for more insight as this gremlin has reappeared. It is apparently related to towing/trailer connection. I dropped my trailer last month and the truck has run just fine for about 75 miles while not towing...didn't stall once. Today I hooked up the trailer, 3000lbs empty and at the first stop sign she stalled. I don't have a EGT guage yet but could my exhaust gas really be an issue in the first couple minutes? Does it sound like an obvious electrical/shorting issue? All my lights work fine...I'm stumped. I'm afraid to disconnect the brakes/lights for a test run to try to narrow that down. What gives
I MAY have just figured it out, but would still listen to any ideas.
When I pulled into my street I noticed my Hazards were actually actuating my brakes at full force (no matter the controller setting) so thinking I had a wiring problem, I pulled the controller out (it was in the truck when I bought it) and swapped it with the controller I had in a previous Ford (that I know worked). I started the truck, tested the brakes and hazards in my driveway, and let the truck idle for about 10 minutes and it didn't stall. So perhaps the faulty wiring on the brake controller was my gremlin sending some false signal to the ECU I sure hope so - does this make any sense to anybody?
I'll let you know how she does tomorrow on my drive around town.

yep, here is a thread a while back with a weird outcome .. go figure.
I have heard of the CPS doing weird things but only when a trailer is hooked up. I think it was mostly when hitting the brakes and not idling but who knows.
Hmmmm....fish on the hitch ball, faulty brake controller I hope this is the case...apparently diesels have a lot more finiky sensors than the gas motors I am use to! I'll let you all know after the weekend.
OK, the gremlin is still on the loose Today when I pulled out of driveway, she stalled and hick-uped on me a few more times at stop signs/lights. When I got to the lot where the show was supposed to be, I disconnected the brakes and it ran fine for the few minutes I was driving around. So it appears to be related to the brake/light connection Any ideas....CPS, flaky ground, possible near short in the connector......
^^Huh...where did that come from??^^ Its not the filter or anything related to fuel. My problem is DEFINITELY electrical and related to the trailer LIGHTS/BRAKES. I did enough driving today both with the trailer lights/brakes hooked up and unhooked and the stalling problem definitlely is related to the light/brake hook up. I'm at a loss, other than trying to install a new CPS....any other guesses? I'm even thinking about putting in a new round recepticle for the connection just in case it might be ground or short related

If nothing else open up the round connector and check it out. I was very surprised when I did mine how badly corroded the connections were and a couple were very loose. One wire was disconnected from the terminal and just floating around. Not your issue but that was with my 7.5L gasser.
