I started mom's truck the other day and I let the high idel come down as always before I pushed in the clutch and shifted into reverse and gave it some gas and let the clutch out and it died.Ok a second atempt It fired up but turned over like 6-7 times and then this time I caught it before it died completely and pushed in the clutch and I had to give it gas but it returned to idel. I don't know what is up with it.
It had a WIX fuel filter about 20K miles ago, MC platinium spark plugs about 50K ago reasonably clean K&N air filter
255K miles on truck. is a 95 Mazda B-3000 3.0 5 Spd
Help please,
Dustin
PS I told her to let it warm up 5-10 minutes before she goes. It does not happen warm. If all else fails I'll just reset the battery
Sounds like a fuel and/or air problem. One thing to consider is the idle air control (IAC)valve, which is the only source of air into engine at closed throttle (unless you have a vacuum leak somewhere). The IAC plays a critical role in maintaining the proper air flow during starting, idling, deceleration, and all other closed throttle conditions.
Also, have your mom try a different brand of gas next time, tell here to get it from a busy name-brand station, not from a small town convenience store. It's worth a shot.
