Unhappy Periodic rough idel

Latley I've been experinceing a rough idel at different times mainly after the truck has been driven about 18 miles. It seems on these few last cold sperts that even when I have it selected in high idel it still seems to have a rough or even a miss. After I get to work and let it idel it will miss more frequently. I did change the cps a couple weeks ago do to the same problem but its getting more frequent.

Any thoughts also no ses light.

Have you checked the UVCH's or looked for chaffed/burned wiring somewhere?

Where did you get the CPS's you are using? If they came from a parts store, that could be the problem.

Does it get worse the hotter it is? Do you have AE? Run a contribution test on injectors or check rational velocity. If it does it more when it is warmed up it could be a leaking high pressure oil oring on your injector. I have also seen where the hold down bolt comes loose and will make a cyl miss because of bypassing oil.

If this is the symptom, check with scanner and look for weak cyl. then remove valve cover and check torque on hold downs. You can also pull valve covers and put piping back on and start to see if oil is squirting from one injector more than others. You can also check the under valve cover harnesses with VCs off.

I am not saying this is what it is, but it sounds like it could be the problem.

I recently did the up pipes gasket replacement I took amoment to see if there was any bad wires everything looked good. Yes this was a problem before I replaced the gaskets. Will a old snap on scanner show a weak cylinder. I know how to do the buzz test but it alaways checks out fine.

What is a AE?
Yes I got a sensor from advanced auto parts it was black and the miss and rough idel was still there.

It also seems that the truck has had a power loss for some time. I got the boost back up after the gaskets but it just dont seem to be there.

Where did the one you took out come from. Way too many people have had trouble with the aftermarket CPS's. Lots of times, the new CPS from them are worse than the one they replace.

The first owner only changed it once it came from the Ford dealer. The truck has only 75,000 miles on it.

AE is Autoenginuty, laptop based scanner. The snapon scanner depends on what keys it has.

What part of the country are you from? There may be someone close to you that would be willing to come out and help you out for nothing or a really good price.

I have some links for you to look at for AE.

AutoEnginuity® - OBD2 Scan Tool - Professional PC and PDA Diagnostics

Tools

It is actually inexpensive if you look at what it can do. I have it and cant imagine using any other scanner now. It is set up a lot like the diag tools from heavy equipment manufacturers.

The new Ford, or any aftermarket CPS has been known to cause a rough idle. How rough of an idle are we talking about?

Loosing power is not typically a sign of the CPS. Have you double checked for boost leaks after your recent work? How low on power are you?

That guy would be Jody Tipton of DP-Tuner.com. He had a deal on some of the original black CPS units, but those have been sold and he can no longer get them. The other name you'll see mentioned here quite often is Diane (Diane Tipton) from the same company. We tend to talk about them alot, so this is more of an FYI thing.
