just for the record, I WILL NEVER OWN A TOYOTA!!! sorry, but if i'm going to own crap, i'll wait until Ford makes some... i'm not afraid to admit that ford has had their problems, and will have problems, but i'm not going to be blinded into thinking that the foreign vehicles are the pooh too beat. if ford focused as much money into developing a car as they have a truck, they would probably take the market in a bit as well...
my s'crew has 155000kms on it, ford serviced since new, never had anything done except the cruise control recall, and oil changes... sorry, but i love my BOTVS!!

Want to know why I'm not crazy about theNEW Ford's? My Brother had an 02 F250 (or an 03 F350, model doesn't really matter) which was parked in my Dad's shop. Well about 11 PM about four years ago, that shop burnt to the ground and the fire investigators figure it was that truck that started the fire since that was where it appeared to have started. I believe his truck was made just before the recall dates. Ford denied that it could be the truck that started it as it wasn't included in the cruise control recall. There was nothing left to the truck, car, quad or anything else in that shop. Thats just my personal experience and opinion.
To each their own as that's what makes the world go round.
He then shortly after traded it in on the toyota he has now. I tried telling him to go for a F150, but his wife did some research, and apparantly the toyota has better ratings in this and that blah blah, so they ended up with the yota.
Diddto for us. We were looking for a towing vehicle and did a lot of research. The yota came out on top for the 1/2 ton. And at least I get treated with respect when I go back there. The sales manager still remebers our names and the parts guy always says hello. They have bent over backwards for us. And to me thats really on the top of my list. The customer service thing seems to have gone by the wayside here in AB due to the labor shortage (if you show up for work, you're hired) and when you find something good, I'll drive the extra distance.
When we bought the 03 Dodge here in town, the next time I went in, the salesman/ manager completely ignored me and there wasn't another person in the dealership.
Ahh yes the dealer problems! That can happen at any dealer with any brand unfortunatly. Im glad ya found the right dealer though.
As for the trucks, I have read all the statistics about lots of the different trucks, and on paper the yota is a little better. I would love to test that actual theory personally though!
Having a few different f150's over the years, and having extremly good luck with all of them, it would be hard to get me to switch over.
That sucks that your brothers truck actually burnt (cruise control im betting). That would be enough to turn alot of people off of a ford.
I can tell ya though, yota doesnt have a truck yet that could keep up with the ford SD series. Im sure they are working on it too though.

Yota's working on it. Rumor has it a diesel (haven't heard what name) as a big a** duelly. That's the word from SEMA this year. I think it will be interesting to see it.
Hey wasn't this a no topic thread?????
The weather has been great here but we sure do need rain. And I'm not even a farmer and I'm saying that. Big b-day party tomorrow for hubby and a couple other friends who all had b-days this week. I'm on call so I have to somewhat behave myself. The F-18 pilots better not break their toys over the weekend! Otherwise I'll have to use the quad to get to work to get them the part they need. I don't want to practice my +.08 driving abilities in a vehicle anyway.
I would like the statistics of customer satisfaction to be more meaningful. Every new vehicle I have bought has been chased by paperwork asking me about satisfaction before the new smell is even gone. These need to be sent when the vehicles have a bit more mileage so as to really accurately represent the vehicle's quality.
hi all,
i got the latest issue of GEARS this month. lots of good tech in it this month.
and i'm not lookin' to buy anything other than a ford truck.

I think with the latest fuel costs that`s been shot down. gm is closing some of their truck plants and in general I don`t think trucks will be a hot item for a long while.......

Haven't heard that but you could be right. Not that the Alberta oil patch would influence the entire North American market but trucks are everywhere and it seems the bigger the better here. I live off the highway that leads to the patch and I'd say 80-85% of the vehicles are trucks on that road. Cars and vans just don't cut it out there. And I know Fort Mac is the same. Too bad all those peole will probably loose their jobs.

of course the fire inspector was a die-hard chebby guy who would love nothing more than to see a shmear on the Ford name... not a chance that it could have been the car, quad, or a million other things in the shop...no way. i heard a similar story with a ford truck in a shop fire... right away everyone blamed the truck, but it turned out to be a short in the welding power supply... sorry, but in a shop there's too much other stuff that could happen to focus the blame solely on the truck.
in reality, why did they call the truck the blame?? because that was the hottest part of the fire... why?? a whole pile of fuel etc that was burning...
