VIN K vs. F oil filter difference?

Looks like the only difference between the oil filter for a 1994 F350 IDI TD vin K and vin F is the overall size of the filter - threading and gasket sizes seem to be the same. I have a K vin on my truck but the filter that was on there was a long one - for vin F trucks best I can tell. Anyone got some enlightenment for me?

Also, this is first oil change since I bought the truck. I have purchased the shorter filter which is recommended for vin K trucks.

I think you are referring to the powerstroke filter vs the IDI oil filter.

There have been other forum members running the larger filter even on the older 6.9L engine. Its is supposed to be the better of the two because of the added hydraulic equimpment in the powerstroke line of engine (hydraulic fuel system). If you can fit the larger filter in your truck without any interfeerance, than I see no harm in using it in your truck. I plan in trying that in mine eventually.

I have run the longer filter for years, I use Fleetguard LF3630 on mine.
The Motorcraft number on the Power Stroke filter ends with 1995, but I don't remember the prefix.

More filter media and an extra quart oil capacity are both good things in my book.

I run the international oil filter off a T444E same as an early powerstroke. It also has an extended life so It would be good for synthetic I just use them because I can get them for 5 bucks at work.

I'm running a K&N HP-6001 filter on my 6.9 It's even bigger than the one on a powerstroke and if I remember correctly it has a finer filter media.
