86 notch. p headed 302 5 speed 3.73's. i have a 351 i'm going to build for it when funds allow, it will be a 408. should movr the car pretty good.
Sounds good!. That 408 windsor will really move that car, notchback is a little lighter than the GT's, even better. The truck looks great, mean looking with the wide tires. I built a 347 for my 66' 350 and it was a blast.
just got back from checking out the truck and left him a deposit on it. it's a 78 2wd f350 ranger explorer sc, 400, c-6. factory air and cruise, bench in the back, dual tank longbox. got it for $1500. needs some bodywork-pass cab corner and there is some rust under the pass side drip rail. overall pretty solid truck. i'm happy. here's some pics
Not to nit pick, but looks like it has a older box on it. '78's had hinged gas doors IIRC. It doesn't really matter though, as long as it serves it purpose.

maybe. i think someone added the front tank, the rear has the gas door.
That is a nice find emerald. What are your plans for it?
i'll be working on it as funds allow. i'd like to make it a semi-daily driver and tow rig for my mustang and camper. i want to swap some late model seats into it . i'm going to tackle the body issues first. i'd like it to be as nice as some of the trucks here!

The main thing is that you have it and you did really well. The rest will follow!. The fun and exciting stuff is ahead of you.
ha ha i was just joking with ya. I don't know why i call people kids, I do it to everyone. The 06 is my parents'. They got it while i wasn't watching, already lifted from the dealership! They know I woulda been all over them if I was there. They traded our 01 excursion and a 98 f150 on that thing, and they're paying a ton every month for it. I tell them all the time that my truck will be around in 30 years and theirs won't lol. It sure rides nice though.... and dana 60 front.... dang rich kids!
I'm just a bum college kid myself, didn't mean no disrespect. And for the smog, If you throw a diesel in an old truck won't it be smog exempt? Cali still doesn't smog 2010 diesels.
No real offense taken I just work hard on my projects and for my $$ and people often think I'm just spoiled based on where I live. Not so much now that I am a bit older but in high school and college it was that way. Kinda bugged me.
A little more to it than you think on the smog thing (been there done that) and it is a complete different story/book (and a horror story at that).
Anyways - bummer on the 06 and paying tons for it. I NEVER understood why people do that. Just not my style.
And as far as the 2010 diesels not being smogged - as of this second they are not, but that is changing VERY soon. If the smog ***** have their way diesels back to 08 or so will be smogged.

Compensating? Huh? I have both a crew cab AND a supercab so I must be OVERcompensating then. Not sure what for - maybe the extra people I want to be able to carry???
