Lol from my knowledget the first year for E40D is like 90 or 91 they had the cancel od button where the aod on the 87-91 trucks i think had the pattern on the dash like this P R N D (D) 1 2 something like that anyways Nathans right the 4r70W was a upgraded version of the E4Od 95 or something like that was first year

Dustin's right with 1990 for the first year of the E4OD so my previous post should be 1990-93 7.3L diesel controller.
The E4OD changed into the 4R100. The 4R7W is the upgraded AODE.
