Congrats, looks like a very nice and clean truck.
I hear you about the dial up bit, I used to have it and don`t miss it abit.
One way to speed up FTE is to become a Supporter, this gets rid of at least some of the banners and ads.

Not 100% sure, I just thought I read that somewhere they had the same heads and the the Mustang got a better cam. All I know is that my brothers 86 sure breathed a lot better than my 82.

Thanks everybody!

This truck is a VERY light duty truck, and I am sure that the frame reflects that.

The previous owner never hauled a load heavier than any full size car would be capable of, and neither have I. All heavy loads are carried in the F350 lurking in the back.

On the other hand it gives an incredibly smooth comfortable ride and gets pretty good fuel mileage to boot.

Kind of a Sunday "goin to meetin" kind of truck!

Slick take a peak at your frame and see if there are many LARGE holes cut along your frame on both sides I forget what year they did that but I own one.

Just took a look.

There is nothing larger than one inch?

Hey that reminds me of a joke that may no longer be "politically correct"

As for the 302 heads, in 1986 Ford tried a different combustion design which was worse than the previous 1985 head. The problem was they threw out the molds for the previous head and the heads used on the trucks was pretty much the same design. The E7TE heads are okay but need extensive port work to be worth anything. The crappy E6SE heads were used on the other 5.0L cars.

The best heads for the 302/351 are the GT40's used on the 93-95 lightning, 93-95 Cobra and the 96-01 Explorers. They are a decent head but if you want over 300 hp N/A you need aftermarket heads.

I guess it`s good luck in trying to find any good used GT 40 heads, might as well buy new after market.
