question about tt mirrors

i have a 2006, i want to put the tt mirrors on it. i like the older style (the ones without the lights). i have not been able to see them up close...do the older style have the two mirrors in it also? the regular one and the small one on the bottom like the newer ones do?

i read the tech folder about the swap, it seems the only difference would be the style of plug in swapping in an older style, is that correct?

the reason is i just don't like the lites to shine on the side like the new ones do, it would be easier probably just to get the new style and disconnect the lights you all think?

thank you.

as a note, those paddle style mirrors are horrible, they shouldn't even be allowed on these trucks due to the huge blind spots they have.

bf250, take a look in my pics below to see the older style mirrors. There are pics of them in Other Mods and I think some in mirrors lights, too. On mine though I added lights to them, rather than spending $400 for new mirrors. But other than the lights and the C-Betrs, they're totally stock! LOL.

I bought the older style with no lights, but with electric adjust, and heated glass off ebay. I went with the older style mostly because they were cheaper. Since I installed them I've come to think they look "tougher". Anyway they do have two mirrors. I agree with BF250, the paddle mirrors shouldn't be allowed on these trucks.

Unhappy a true answer to new style mirror covers

i checked at the dealer today. you cant put the new new signal covers on the older style mirror housing. it wont work. and the chrome covers are $132. each, list price. you have to have the new style mirror with lights to be able to put the chrome covers on them. the actual housing is different from the old style. even the 07 tt mirrors on an xl truck that does not have the factory signals cant accept the new style cover.

Really?!?

I went to a couple dealers and their parts guys told me you can just swap the covers and that's it.

I'll check with them again and see what they say.

its the piece where it wraps around the arms of the housing. on the old style, they wrap around the arms. on the new style, there is a seperate piece that wraps around the arms and the cover is straight where they meet. if you have seen the new style covers in person, you will see where the two pieces meet and the old style does not have the same cover.
