Thats what I figured it was too, the detent, but I believe you read my tone wrong.
I simply thought maybe coon speed read what was posted and missed something. He knows more about these trucks than I do, and I admit that, but even the things I know, i sometimes read faster than what my brain can handle and get confused. So realx, I am not trying to push anyones butons.

The shifter moves with the gear indicator needle. So there is no problem b/w the two.
I found a little slop in the torx bolts on the linkage under the dash.
I looked under there before and intended to see them completely out like they were before.
Feels tighter and I think that fixed my problem.
