As long as a Ford fulfills my needs I see no reason to switch.
I now mainly play around with the older 50`s-60`s Ford/Mercury vehicles.

just for an example, my FIL was a chebby guy, wasn't happy with the way they've been in the later years here, so he starts looking into nissans and toyota's. claims that they are the "only quality out there". well, he buys a '98 xcab 4x4 frontier with just shy of 200k, pays 12g's for it, (same time i buy my screw with 100k for 15g's). the thing is a rattle trap, he's had multiple clutch and tranny problems, the motor sounds like its going to jump out, front cv joints and boots, and right now it sits in the garage with a busted leaf spring. should i add that the PO was an old school teacher?? heck, my '96 had 275k on it and i just replaced the alternator, starter, and fuel pump, all original equipment. the guy that bought it after i had it hasn't did a tap to it but gas and oil.

sad part is, he's still thinking that this jap crap is the only way to go... lucky i got his daughter straightened out before she got seriously swayed!!!

That must be one in a million of a jap truck sherm. Do some research on them, they are pretty good little trucks. I would take a f150 over one anyday, but I cant ignore the facts.

Fellas please dont mix up loyalty with ignorance! Ford has alot of great, and alot of not great products.

its still in my mind but i haven't seen the guy yet. he's a plumber in town so i'll run into him sooner than later. i'm working in a house that he is right now so i should be rinning into him maybe friday. i'll let you'se know for sure.

i know they have had a good track record before prep, but it seems stupid how people get caught up in the "foreign is best" hype. this day and age they are no better than anything else. sure the resale is higher and they have a better spoken value, but bolt for bolt i don't think they are any better than anything else. just my highly biased opinion...

i think a good exapmle of this is the fact that my local Ford dealer has all but given up on selling anything other than trucks, 95% of their lot is full of Superduties and Rangers, and they have gone so far as too buy a foreighn (Honda the rumour is) Dealership and are about to start building a brand new dealership right next to their Ford service department

i wish i could, but for now i'll keep it as my opinion. i know everywhere you read its all the hype over the foreign stuff. i'll agree that 8-10-15 years ago they might have been great vehicles, but in todays market vehicles are just pumped out too fast using basically the same procedures all across the board.

a little air for your bubble...talking to a lady the other day, a lady she works with has an '89 civic and just lost the motor in it... it only had 523000k on it...

Thats not bad for a honda. I dont know if theres a comparible ford car that can get that much, but I know a lot of trucks would make it there!
