Wow, that`s very neat site.
The home page with all the neat old Ford cars and the 1940 or so pick up is smokin! http://www.staufferv8.com/index.html
A rare factory cast aluminum hood would look sweet all polished.
I think I`ve never heard of die cast aluminum hood, just grills or an I mistaken about the grill?
Sherm if you wanted to go with a manual, and a 5 speed it would be well worth it, a huge improvement over a c6 auto. C6's are tough, but you get a 5 speed behind there and you would love it, and have overdrive!
My dad did a auto to manual conversion on 70's ford and all he said he really had to do that was a pain was mount the clutch pedal. Go to a wrecker and find a manual truck and your set.
hand clutch, right up through the floor, be like driving a dual whtcha macallit, like a 4+5 only a littel bit diffrent.
The hood was a factory thing for a year or so, but they broke real easy, so were discontinued, there was another reason i cant remember right now, not sure about teh grill though, ill have to check it out
i guess for simplicity and the fact that i want the truck on the road as quick as i can i'll probably just leave the C6. its solid and i won't be putting too many highway miles on her.
I would message Stuart, I think. I know someone from saskatchewan does work on auto tranny's. When I get working on my shortbox thats who I would like to take the tranny too.
I think it`s just a matter of dropping the valve body but I could be wrong there.
We haven`t heard from Stuart1 since his wife passed away, I hope he`s still around FTE.
i suppose haynes would have a shop manual for them right?? i should look into that a little further. i hear that running all synthetic fluids make it a little free'er too...
yeah on a newer vehicle its a good idea to do that if they aren't already using it. trying that on an older/high mileage vehicle isn't the best idea as you often develop leaks from the oil being much thinner.
