It was too small and under powered on the farm.
The 800 isn`t much bigger but double the power and just an all round heavier built tractor plus a little more modern with a live PTO.
Pretty much every manual ford truck from the 40's to the present has had a PTO. 4spd's up to 1986 and 5spds on the 87+ F-250/350. The only problem is the transmission crossmember may not clear the PTO. I've seen so many hack jobs on tow trucks.

i didn't realize that. speaking of manual tranny's, how hard to drop one behind the 351 in my '83?? i heard that the C6 is quite a power robber and thought of maybe switching to a manual if i could find one...
I wouldn`t switch over to a manual transmission because to me it`s way too much hassle to bother with for little gain unless you hate automatics with great passion.
While it does use a little extra power I doubt you would ever notice it unless your racing and need the extra fraction of a second in the quarter mile.
well...that sounds fine to me. the '83 won't be seeing any official racing... maybe stoplight to stoplight or something as usual, but mostly just a DD.
there are some better pictures of conversions there. Stauffer sells the kit most closely related to the original Funk Conversion.
in that gallery check out the huffer on the one with duals....pretty sweet eh, not crazy bout the flames or wheels, but talk about the motor. The one that is all gray has what appears to be the rare factory cast aluminum hood, very rare, but look absolutely beautiful
