so does anyone have anything they wanna share about their mods? what works, doesn't work, dyno #s with certain mods, track times with certain mods, mpg? anything at all?
Stage 1's(160cc/stock nozzle), TW 6 position, CPR fuel system, 7.3 IC, HPX, Modded 17* HPOP, 6637, exhaust, and Valair Kevlar/Ceramic was good for 352hp/731tq on the dyno, did a nice job towing, and 15.1 at the drag strip in a 2wd 5 speed and a crappy 60' time. Also best mpg I got was 21mpg on the highway
Same as above except with stage 2's was good for 380hp on the dyno with tuning still for stage 1 injectors. Pulls harder now with live tuning, but before the tuning it did 14.46 at the strip w/ still a crappy 60' time(2.8 seconds), and 19mpg. Still does good towing and stock turbo still alive w/ 319k miles. Got an S465 going on before long so we will see how that goes.
What the hell is a S465? I'm assuming its a nice turbo, but what are the dimensions?
And expectations?
Your correct. It is an S400 turbo. You will see ppl calling their S300 and S400 series turbos like that a lot. Example- S362, S364, S366, S465,S475, s480. The S3-- would be an S300 series turbo(smaller center section and shaft size than S400 series turbos) and the last two numbers(62,64,65,66,75, etc) would be the compressor inducer size. This was started by Bullseye turbo apparently a long time ago and it stuck b/c it's an easy way to give size and series of the turbo in one name since there are so many variations in each series. So my S465 would be an S400, but the weird thing about this one is the inducer size is actually 63.5mm. I WAS going to get an S366, but went this way b/c of reports from Dodge guys saying switching from an S300 based 66 to the S465 was a good switch and ran better. The 400 center section is better and the shaft is stronger too so thats a plus.
I expect this turbo to have pretty good spool b/c of the turbine housing size(.90 A/R), cool EGTs b/c of turbine size(83mm inducer vs stock 76mm), and good power. I have talked to a guy running this with stage 2's and 100% nozzles and he said it spools around 1800 RPM which is better than my stock turbo which is starting to spool at 2000 RPM... Don't worry, when I install it I will make a thread about it.
Unofficial mods? Lets see, I have the dings in the doors mod, slight twist in the rear bumper mod, curb rash on my wheel mod, cracked windshield mod, paint worn off on the dash mod, stained carpet mod, torn steering wheel cover mod, funky steering linkage thats covered in grease mod, custom mounted trailer plug mod... I think that about covers it
