I can't belive this hasn't been posted on yet, I'll start with the 3 mods that are absolutely necessary for any power adders.

1. Replace the down pipe with a bigger one.
2. Open up the intake with something like the KWIK filter (6637)
3. Get some gages, EGT and Tranny temp (automatic), Boost gage is fun but not necessary.

best towing setup: h2e turbo, beans stage 2 injectors, stock 6oh intercooer, beans fuel system = 420 rwhp, tons of fun and not enough hp to tear the engine up.

Best engine forged rod bending setup: headstuds, beans hybrid h2e and hybrid injectors, built trans, 6oh ic, beans fuel system, TW tuning= 550rwhp with immediate pushrod and connecting rod carnage.

Latest engine has most of the tricks available and with 6k miles on it so far so good. Estimated @ 600rwhp range since thats what it was making when in my obs truck. Maybe one of these days i'll dyno or take it to the track, for now i'll just stick to blowing hte doors of sports cars on the hwy

Best power for the money setup might have to be the stage 1s and D66 turbo. With good programming you can get in the 350+ hp range. All in all you might have $3k tied up without trans mods.

I would say the 1.0 housing for your turbo with a good wheel is a nice add on. The 1.15 is just too laggy for the 7.3. I am impressed with the pulling power of the turbo upgrade, and not too expensive either.

Do you mean a 1.0 housing? I am pretty sure they come in 1.15 (stock), 1.0 and .85.

Good idea, let's pin someting on the thread. A good diagnotic pin for the stuff like the GP's or white smoke thread, remember winter, too. Saves the newbbies a little time.

I ordered a downpipe, testpipe, guages (boost, pyro, and TT), pillar mount, and Edge programmer yesterday. I see opinions about my choice of the Edge in other threads. However, I also am putting a Ford rebuilt E4OD in my truck tommorrow and while under warranty it was recommended I not chip my truck. With the Edge, I can reinstall the Ford flash if there are any issues. Am I off?

Yes, but it won't be this thread. TJ offered to help me collect some good threads/info for an FAQ type thread for this forum coming soon.

I bookmarked this thread so that it can be added to the FAQ, so let the mods roll.

Lets not forget a much bigger cooler to keep these transmissions alive like the superduty 6.0 liter cooler or the tru-cool max 4739. A must have for modding, right up there with gauges IMO.

Im running a ford reman trans in my tow truck. Ford never said anything to me about running power adders. Right now mines got AB split shots out of my early 99, superduty IC, modded valve body, 6oh trans cooler and a Wildman chip. Tranny feels pretty good so far.
