Ok I have been reading posts and various threads talking about a filter mod and some AIS mod, so I am trying to figure out how I can I find the required parts? Is there any name that I can use for searching as far as parts go even through evil bay?
I know at least one thread referenced a " Ford/Donaldson AIS" I'm guessing this is the correct mod?
Thanks for the help and most of my questions have been answered in the other threads so I know I have a good base to work with
Anyway I apologise if any of these questions have been asked already but I'm not finding what I need and also want to see if I can gather the information into a single thread for other to benefit from
Yep same filter media. Effective and lasts a loong time. One mod to the normal AIS install is to cut a 3" or so hole at the side nearest the fender, and put a
to the hole in the fender. That is where the early intake took air from. The mod provides another source of air in addition to the front. I did that mod, but really no solid evidence that is improves anything.
The hole in your inner fender is already there. He's talking about cutting a hole in the new AIS airbox so it can suck air from that fender hole. I didn't do that though because I've heard it makes the intake noise a little louder.
Not to hijack but, I read somewhere on here awhile back that the 2001-2002 model year trucks the air intake hole in the fender was closed off somehow. Anybody confirm or deny this . Mine is an 02 & was thinking of switching to the AIS. Also is fender sleeve necessary with stockish mods ? No tuner here- Just intake & 4"exhaust.
FWIW I put the AIS on my truck 5 years ago and I love it! You will get very long life from the filters unless you are operating in an extremely dusty/dirty environment. Go for it, you'll like it.
