Man I hope you can get it home. Like mentioned, if it is not throwing a code, the mechanics will be reduced to looking around, just like you can do. Might as well do that yourself.
Yea, but where to start & how do I know if I found it. I can't afford to be broken down too many times. I live off of a gravel road so I'm always hitting bumps. Is this the beginning of the end or just a freak deal? I guess I'm just not in the best of moods right now.
I think I found a place in Gainesville -- a friend of mine just south of there recommended a place, but their mechanic is leaving early today. They're booked up the next couple days anyway but recommended a place called "South Grand Garage". Try giving them a call at 940-665-5797. Tell them Hunters recommended them. Let me know if you need more help -- the wife will be out for a while, but she said she'd bring the truck home if I needed to head up there....

Was the other mechanic John Strauss at Lindsey? South Grand recommended going there for the diesel. If it's gonna be a few days I'll try and get home
I recall reading a post on FTE where someone had the engine cut out on bumps because the relays under the hood were loose and the terminals corroded. I'm searching for the post but can't find it yet. I will post a link when I do. That might be your problem too. Yank the relays out and give the contacts a good cleaning.
I didn't get the guy's name, but it was Hunter's Oil Depot on W. Hwy. 82 in Gainesville. They also have a garage & towing, but like I said, they were booked anyway. How far have you made now that it's running again?
I had this happen to me on a trip lost total pwr. turned out i need to have the injector wire harness replaced. (I am not sure if that is the correct name but what it look like was a valve cover gasket with wiring) in it that was hooked to the injectors?

I'm sitting on the side of the service road 15 miles north of Denton. I've got someone bringing my flatbed to tow me home.
Finally made it home. After the truck dying from the bump then starting again, I made it about miles before it cut out on a smooth road with no bumps. Popped the hood and let it sit 10 min, turned the key and the glow plug light went off so I cranked her up and drove 40 mph in 5th (6) gear all the way into dallas. Dropped the truck off at the mechanic and will find something out tomorrow.
I'm gonna eat now. I may be looking for more suggestions in a few.

Any idea what terminals he was talking about? Sorry spunout looks like I got out of there just before you replied. I was at the Valero gas station accross from Kings automotive (who called me back after I made it as far as Dallas and said I could drop it off and they would look at it in a few days. They seem to have forgotten I told them I was broke down on the side of the road).
I'm not completely up on motors with computers in them but am puzzled by the fact that my glowplug light would tell me if my truck would start or not. If it stayed on then no start. If it went off it would start like nothing ever happened. Still no ses light on the dash. I don't think it's glow plug related but don't know how that relay could tell the truck was broke. Also the bump may or may not have caused the engine die since I hit the bump around the same time the truck died once, and there were no bumps the next time. I did hit plenty of bumps the last 70 or 80 miles with no issues at all. Sitting with the truck off and the hood open seems to have helped, but the last time I only sat 10 minutes, not enough time for the engine to cool down.
Any suggestions on advice to give the mechanic would be appreciated.
One last theory. Big brother (Ford) marketing plan. I got a brochure in the mail Saturday telling me how wonderful the new ford trucks were. I had another mailer from Ford when I got home today, and I've seen about 10 ford commercials in the last hour. Maybe it's sabotage. (Update:11 commercials now)
