HELP Ford on Road Dead

Driving north on 35 in Oklahoma and the truck did a hard sputter and then seemed to run fine. Going down hill I noticed the tack go from 2000 down to 0 and back up without anything noticeable in the way the engine felt. Driving along and the truck just died with no indicators. Changed fuel filter on side of road and the truck started. Pulled 200 ft into gas station and let it cool off. No start so I changed the CPS. Now it still won't start. I'm stuck in a little town with no rental cars with a truck that will not run. Help

Are all the normal dash lights (WTS etc) working? If so and you changed CPS which the tach observation indicates, then I would begin to suspect the fuel pump. Make sure you are getting fuel and the HPOP reservoir is within 1 inch of the allen head plug. Good Luck.

Noticed the glow plug light will not turn off when I turn the key on. Drained the fuel bowl half way and it won't refill either with key or when try to crank. Could it be a fuse or am I screwed? Anyone know a diesel mechanic in Davis, OK

If it's the fuel pump where is it, and how hard is it to change on the side of the road?

under the drivers seat on the frame rail(outside), make sure your inertia switch is in the right position.

Inertia switch? Are you talking about the fuel shut off on the passenger kick panel? If so how do you turn it off. How important is that since I'm not pumping fuel anyway?

Anyone have a list of tools I will need to do this?

I think he meant to check the switch to make sure it wasn't shut off already and not allowing the pump to pump fuel to your engine. Sometimes they "trip" and cut power to the pump. Turn your key to run and stick your head under the driver's door and listen for the fuel pump running. When you first turn the key it should run for a few seconds. See if the pump is getting power with a volt meter at the connections.

Does anyone else have any input? I'm sitting in a hotel room now waiting on the auto parts stores to open tomorrow. I found a mechanic that said he would have his driver run me parts tomorrow, or send a technician along to do the work for me.

HPOP oil level looks fine. Fuse #40 for fuel pump was not blown. All dash lights work with the exception of glow plug light not going off after key is turned on. Cranks fast enough to move the oil pressure gauge after a couple of seconds.

I want to make sure I'm not missing something before I pay someone to deliver parts that won't help.

Left the volt meter at home. I listened for the fuel pump and did not hear it. I removed the passenger kick panel and the switch was not tripped (I was really hoping that was my problem)

Check your fuel pump fuse. Im not sure which one it is, check your manual its in there. Just pull it out and do a visual inspection, its pretty easy to tell if its blown. If thats good, and you dont hear your fuel pump, sounds like you need a fuel pump. Since you said you also have no fuel refilling the bowl, its definetly a fuel situation.

On my truck its a 20 amp fuse, #40 I also have the larger fuse block, so just double check your manual.
