Blew my lid
Sorry, but sometimes there's just that overpowering urge to strangle someone who seriously needs it.
I don't like rap. I don't like most of this stuff they call music now days. I would probably be disgusted with what you were playing. Who knows? But, I usually know that I can drive away and don't have to listen very long. I do hate it when people play their music so loud you can hear the boom boom boom from 6 blocks away. That's just stupididity.
Ya probably done alright, but since I wasn't there I can't say. I'd imagine, with all the illegal alien complaints people have now days, that had something to do with it...regardless if you are illegal or not!
Just take it a day at a time sir. But be aware that fisticuffs can get ya both tossed into jail and an expensive lawyer.
That being said, as long as you're not breaking the law, you have every right to listen to what you want, when you want, as loud as you want. I've got more money invested in my sound system than some of my friends have in their cars, and I love driving around with the radio up loud sometimes.
These days, around here, it's hard to **** anyone off about music, unless it's some druggie-looking kid in a beat up POS Honda bassing as hard as he can with stuff rattling and the fart can...well...farting.
We got black kids that love Sweet Home Alabama, white kids that love Snoop Dogg, and old ladies listening to Rob Zombie. What has this world come to?
I don't care. It's my truck, it's my music. Unless you're sitting in my passenger's seat or have red and blue lights behind your grille, I couldn't care less what you think of me or my music.
Good point though...careful who you talk bad too. You ever watched the show "House"? I'm quite the fan...but there's a good abuse of power by a police officer in that show that made me think carefully about what I said and to whom I said it before figuring out who they are.
Have the respect to turn down your stereo in a public place like that.
BTW, the sign says to shut the engine off to reduce the risk of fire or explosion.
They had a case recently around here where a driver caused an at fault accident. The at fault driver said he was sorry and that the accident was his fault. But, the "victim" kept going on and on insulting the guy screaming swears at the side of the road.
So, the at fault driver knocked him out. Victim tried to sue the at fault driver. The judge asked the at fault driver why he hit the "victim" he said "his mouth kept writing checks his body couldn't cash" (southern cliche) and explained the person's actions and what was said before he socked him.
Case thrown out of court.
Yes, you shouldn't had your music loud. But, you shouldn't have to put up with an abusive jerk either. Many times I politely -ASKED- people to please turn down the music. My guess is your are probably not 6 feet tall and 250 pounds, otherwise he wouldn't have said anything and was taking advantage of a situation he thought he could win. Clearly he wrote a check he couldn't cash.
Maybe next time he will keep his mouth shut and maybe next time you will turn the music down so you don't have to interact with jerks like this. Because if you met enough of them, sooner or later one of these types will pull a gun and kill you.
It's interesting, I stop at a gas station that has 16 pumps and almost every time I stop there, someone has a stereo blasting. More often than not it isn't country, rock, classic rock, top 40, oldies or talk radio that is blasting - it is rap (complete with the offensive language) or music in spanish turned up loud enough so the entire place can hear. Coincidence? Or is it just the vehicle owner trying to p*ss off the "white boys", as you referred to us. Rhetorical question, I don't need an answer.

I would front my buddies a couple of thousand $$$ so they can post bail for you....and go ahead and get an attorney for a little heads up. Just in case.
Assaulting someone because they were verbal about your music is quite a bit over the top. Especially since you do not state that he was a threat to you in anyway or that you were in fear for your life.
Next time you may need a coroner instead of an attorney.

Dunno theres no reason to hit anyone unless your in danger and music is a bad excuse. so he criticizes your music chances are as soon as you leave the station youll never see him again so why does it hurt that bad?
Does this mean you assaulted him yourself or did you get a couple of your buddies out of the truck to do your dirty work?

And even if you have a delineated "right" to something, you need a lesson in "self interest, rightly understood". This is a concept that many Americans need to get clear on...that while we cherish our system of economics and law based on individual rights and self-interest, the wise person knows when to defer his/her rights or self-interest (at the moment) to either another person, or to the group/society at large, because to do so will benefit the wise person more in the long run.
And doing so is the heart of conservative and/or libertarian thinking. Wise economic practices too.
Like listening to your music at a volume that doesn't "get in the face" of someone who might not want to hear it...that's what home and headphones are for. Why needlessly antagonize otherwise peace loving folks, and ultimately creating more work for the police, and the courts? Creating ill-will does no one any good. It's a corrosive.
In short it's called smart, civilized behavior. And the concept applies across the board.
And don't tell me you can justify it "because the other guy does it". Live by example.
