Blew my lid
Hmmm, I'm wondering now....maybe the wrong guy got the whoopin'.
Just to recap, you leave your truck running while you are filling up with gas with your music blarring.
( Being the type of music shouldn't matter, it's the volume factor I'm referring to ) Little thing called respect for others. Stating that you believe in free speech then totally contradicting yourself by also stating that this "whiteboy" ( and using that analogy speaks volumes about charactor ) went too far by slamming your taste in music of all things.
I would hate to see what you would have done if he started slamming your "ride"
Now you physically attack the "whiteboy" and go as far to inform us that you also threw him over one of the gas pump guard poles. ( in public where of course there would be witnesses and as stated before, most likely video evidence )
Lastly you come here expecting some sort of vindication for this?
But do keep us imformed if you do get charged with assault and thrown in the klink, I can use the laugh.
Oh and yes, you went alittle to far...

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
OK... First off, I never thought about how loud your music may have actually been, but did assume it was loud enough to probably irritate the daylights out of me. I try to be easy going, so in most cases, I'll allow that I will soon escape the noise.
Comments above DO make a valid point about loud music of ANY style, regardless of language. Being polite and not "in your face" with your music is always the proper route to take. Now, don't get me wrong...when I was a young pup, I loved to have my 8 Track playing loud, as we would "drag main". So, I understand a certain part of your loud music mentality.
After a partial night's sleep, I feel a bit regenerated and thought about this thread before even coming on-line. I felt I wanted to add to my thoughts and clarify, but others have already voiced SOME of my thoughts.
They are right in the fact that you should probably not have assaulted the man, regardless of his rudeness. If your music was loud enough, then it was also rude to others, who may be trying to enjoy a certain amount of peace and quiet.
In this world, we all have to give a little and take a little. We all need to realize that not everyone likes the same things we do. We all need to think about the other guy's point of view and that ours is not always the right way to do things.
I'm sure we all have the thoughts of beating the poop out of someone who has insulted our "manhood", our "rights" or our own little world. Feeling that way is one thing, but initiating violence is going to always be viewed as wrong, unless one can prove he was endangered by verbal threats or threats of bodily harm. Even though your exploits may have been caught on camera, the voice part probbly isn't. So, in effect, a jury might look at it and see a man talking to you and then you suddenly attacking him. See my point?
As you grow older, you will hopefully understand more of your rights and responsibilities... and those of others too. I'd bet ya, that if I were to pull up along side of you and cranked, say, Buck Owens ( old style hardcore country ) up to the max, you'd have been offended that I'd be playing such crap. It happened to me in Nam... against some soul brothers. They wanted to play their prejudiced soul music as loud as possible, forcing everyone else to lose their own individual rights to "equality". So, I turned on my player and cranked Buck Owens up. Man..did the poo hit the fan. " Hey man, turn that .... down!" "You stupid or what?", and on & on.
I left for R&R the next day. Came back a week later and found that my locker had been broken into and my tape player disappeared. Fortunately the theft was witnessed. It was the same "brother" that gave me so much static for trying to enjoy my own style of music and turning it up loud enough to hear it over the top of the music he was FORCING upon me and everyone else.
Never came to fisticuffs, but could have... with 8 people jumping me, as was the style back then. Vietnam was highly "black pantherised" at the time. Youd have to have been there to really know what I'm talking about.
Anyway... in the long run, you did over react, from the sounds of things and after more thought on the subject. And also, I'm still quite sure that racial tensions from one side or the other, were a strong contributing factor. But that's only the opinion of this "white boy".
If ya want total equality and respect... ya have to give as much as ya want to receive. And that goes for all colors of people.
If I came up to you and told you to turn it down, what would you do? It is not your right to cause noise pollution or expose my kids to language that I might deem inappropriate. I have told people to turn it down and most of the time they will, but if they do not it is my right to call the cops and have them cited for noise violations. IMHO
These guys have made good points. Being angry or upset is no excuse. Respect is the key. You treat people the way you want to be treated.
This is coming from a latina, who hates loud music like that. I understand it's a cultural thing as my parents remind me, but you keep that at home.

I don't know about 'the dumbest thread of the year' but, I agree 100% otherwise.
Around here, loud music will get you a citation under the noise statute, and at the very least. . . noise pollution. (Yes, it's a bonafide infraction!)
I was with a LEO friend when he wrote six (6) citations to one (1) guy for noise from his stereo.
Then, comes the assault and BATTERY. You put your hands on someone. . . BATTERY.
Consider yourself VERY lucky if this guy you hit doesn't call the 'Poh-Poh' (sorry, Police.)
Also, in this day and time. . . one day, when you commence to hitting on someone, they just might pull out a firearm or knife and put an end to your un-called-for hitting.
And mudslingur, as for the comment about someone's color or ethnic background. . . .
I DON'T PLAY THAT GAME!!!!!!!!
End of story.

And yet...this would be entirely different had it had been a good 'ol boy with country or some other music that was "tolerable" to some of you.

I am sure you asked your question with sincerity.. Deep down, I bet you knew the answers you were going to get before u even posted..
but as I see it, the other guy was impolite, rude and a PIA.... You were violent and committed assault.
