I have a 2002 Explorer Sport Trac and was wondering if the headlight switch has any lights behind it to illuminate it at night??, mine has no light there and was wondering if the bulb was burnt out?
Wow I thought someone could answer this one all I need to know is if the 3 icons on the dash for the head light switch are lite up at night or if there is no light behind them??..................
I was wondering the same on my 98 Explorer. I have the auto on / off feature, I have noticed that are is very dark. You would think there would be some back lighting for that switch!
I know there is a bulb on the 95-01's that light up the icons, but I do not know on the 3rd Gen's. Hopefully someone here can walk out and turn their's on and see what they have...

I have a 02 XLT,I do have the back light on the headlight and all of the other little switches(window, door lock, heater controls, and the like). You might want to check the thumwheel dimmer control to see if it is working.
the 02 sport trac is the same as 95-01 explorer gen 2,not the 02 and newer explorer and yes i believe the switch has a small bulb in it but am not totally sure.

You have to remove the dash bezel. The switch is mounted to it. You wil see the place for the bulb on the back of the switch. It is plastic and takes a small flathead to get it out and replace.
