Don't have a photo of it, but as I remember, push the small button on the bottom of the switch while pulling on the stem. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I am familiar with the later Fords that used a spring-loaded button to release it, but can not feel anything like that on this switch. I am too old to get up under that dash to see very well!
I just removed the headlight switch from a 52. It had a push button on the rear right side. If yours doesn't, then look for a small hole to stick a small punch through to release the stem.

1951/54 uses the same switch (FAA-11654-A), but it's not the same as the 1948/50 switch (7RA-11654).
1949 Ford Passenger Cars use the same 7RA-11654 switch as 1948/50 trucks. Post 4 upper pic: There's the little charmer.
I wonder if anyone has a picture to show me how to remove the headlight switch stem on a 1949 F1? Thank you in advance
The key is to keep the stem pushed in while using a small screwdriver to release the spring through the slot on the bottom of the unit. It about jumps apart when done correctly.
