alternator quit charging?

alternator quit charging?
Were driving and lost lights, radio etc...made it home, tried to start battery dead. was a new battery so picked up an alternator and changed it. Was not showing that it was charging, but weren't having any problems. About a week later lost everything again. Thought maybe a defective alternator. Tried a different alternator same thing. Not registering a charge. Any suggestions. It is squealing when you start it. Belt looks fine anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Check all your cables to make sure you don't have a break under the insulation and get that battery bench tested. I don't care what it is, if it's for sale it can be bad from the get go.

If not a bad tensioner, you may have a bad bearing on some other belt driven component that's making the belt too loose on the alternator (but I agree that tensioner is more likely)
Also, don't forget to check all of your fuses. The alternator must have voltage at the field in order to charge. A bad fuse or fuseable link can prevent voltage from getting to the field.
