Well I just got done this afternoon (Wen) Thought that I may need help but I got it done
FoMoCo said that I would need to change out the switch because the bulb was built into the unit. Wood grain timed daytime running lights with fog lights; the switch was $186.
I took the unit apart and found the bulb that was out. 76¢ cost of the bulb at a elect parts store (Radio Shack has them but a bit more and a bit off my parts run for my Co) and about 30 min of my time soldering; I now have it working.
I have a 98 Expedition a 2002 F150 and a F250 (I think it is a 99)all with the same problem...However the others are work trucks and are not driven much at night (beside it is employes driving them {beside the Expedition} ). I will take apart one of the headlight switch off one of the other trucks, and take photo as I go to show it being done....You have to break the welded tabs that is holding the back cover to the front, however that is what they make glue for
There is a DIY bulb to LED mod out there for both the headlight and 4x4 switches. It's written based on a Ford Ranger Pick-up, but the switch is the same as ours. At the time I posted this there was trouble with displaying the pictures on the DIY webpage. But I'm posting the link anyway in case it clears up. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296394...ar-cab/page-12
