thanks Bad.. I just wonder why the plane jane heads?
The 390 in my '74 highboy had "plain jane" C8AE-H's on it.
After my machinist and I got done with them, they weren't plain-jane by any stretch of the imagination
I had built a set for the first "mild" 390 I put in the highboy. It ate the cam at 10K miles. Removed the heads, installed CJ exhaust valves, new intake/exhaust seats, bronze guides, positive lock valve seals, double springs, etc. etc.
Anyway, they look like normal FE heads. They ain't.
Depending on weight it'll be about $85-$120. Send some pics when you get the stuff. Another way to find out what kind of engine it is is to look at the motor mounts. I can't remember right now but I'll get my book and look how many bolts what kind of engine has.
I have no clue where U got the quote's But I just ran it thru my commercial account on UPS and it $376.98 to ship from my Shop in Redding to a commercial address in 78664
