I was told I had a 302 or 351 when I bought mine. First glance under hood and I knew it wasn't a small block. It was an FE. How could anyone mistake that I don't know. Point is some people really don't know or care to know what they have. I'm not saying he has a 427 but it could be possible that a few owners back someone replaced the 360 with a crate 427 from Ford. Fast forward to today and along the way it wasn't mentioned to the new owner. Maybe it was laying around for future project and someone forgot to install it. Other half got mad and sold it to someone not knowing it was valuable. My other half looks at my trucks as junk. Nevermind the almost $10K under the hood. I'm just saying let's not be mean to him. He doesn't know what he has by his own admission. Only what he thinks/hopes to have. I agree we need clear daytime photo's to help him out.
Back in the early '70s my 428CJ motored Fairlane, Cobra model, got all the snakes removed (never did catch that A-hole) but with headers and non-stock exhaust several guys were willing to race me for money because "it must be a 302 or a 351" because there were no tags. And they did this with the damn thing sitting there idling. How can anyone mistake a big blockfor a little motor when you can hear it. Needless to say, their money became my money in short order.
The last owner has been dead for 3+ years.. I bought the truck off his widow for $50 .. So has no cleu whats in it.. Just that her husband use it for pulling a hourse trailer that held 16 horses.
I will get more later this week... from the underside...
And from talking to her I have found out that the engine been change at lest 4 times and alway for a bigger stronger one.. In her barn is at lest a dozen FE blocks of diffrent sizes..
50.00 bucks? hell now I know he's pulling our leg... YOU LUCKY MF!! I could stand to make a roadtrip up to see her barn I could ....got a whole roll a quarters handy
She haveing every thing hauled off.. I also got a 73 Chevy K10 w/454 4speed from her.. And My dad got 2 64/65 Ranchro's and a bunch a engine's.. She getting ready to sell her property off and more to Fl.. So its all going cheap.. All I did as ask her what she wanted for the truck and she ask what I had in my wallet.. And It was 50 bucks.. And I got the 73 chevy for nothing.. Just had to tow away...
I only care for Ford.. PM me if there's anything along the lines. I wanna unload my 2002 Ram qd cab in June 07 and get a econo pre smog, in decent condition. Dont mind a rebuild if rust free. Went to Alpine for the 66 F100, just cant find the stuff down here unless your a banker or a parts yard
If there are any GT500s, I'll take one of them. I'll give ya 75 bucks for one.... Oh.....and if there's any thunderbolts, I'll take one of them too.
Your old man ought to knwo what he's looking at too, right? Stop by the bank, grab a couple thousand and get up there to that barn! Don't forget your car trailer.

It's not very Christian like to be taking advantage of a little old lady, y'know? Then again, you're not taking advantage of her if she's just gonna get rid of it for cheap anyways.....
If there was a GT 500 there, I would have fu@# her for it on the spot.. Most are old trucks.. I know there 2 real old dodge's there and some more chevy.. Most died and was left to rot.. There a 47 M38 there also that I want to get my hands on.. She just getting rid of what ever people can haul off.. If its running ( like the 72 f-100 ) she just ask for a little bit of cash..
