What I do know is its really got ***** and I like it.. I am planning on getting some tuned headers and going straight pipes to glasspacks right out the back.. the Headers that are on it now are all but burnt thru and the rest is just about all rusted out..
ok Guys.. typed to take pic and non came out ( just to dark for my little cam with no flash ) But I did pull the plugs and stuck a welding rod it.. maked TDC then rotated it to BDC and I keep getting 4.05" Any clue what it might be????
Well I guess we will just have to wait for daytime pics? it should be light soon? LOL...
What did you use to measure the distance between the marks on the welding rod?
What I know is no marine engines were ever marketed under the Mercury name. Now Mercury, as in Mercuriser, never used any Ford FE motors. They used the small block Fords, but no FEs.
I hope he does have a stroked 427, that would be awesome. I bought my truck thinking it was a 360 and it turned out mine is a 390. I know the feeling I had so if he has a 427, I can only imagine what his feelings are.
If it turns out to be a stroked 390, that would still be cool.
Heck yeah......I'm jealous. I'd be the first to admit that. And honestly.....I hope the guy has a 427 too! It's nice to see them pop up every now and again. Especially in this kinda of scenerio.
BTW, it's still daylight over here on the west. What about you guys over there on the east?
Yep if it true I would Really be Jealous!!!!! But that is so far of a rare find !! and as Bear said..***** if I had a 427 in one of My Trucks... Everyone within 10 counties around me would know it!!
The only thing I can thing of..Is a Farm hand had it..and when the Farmer wasnt looking he stoled the Irrication engine from the pump house and installed it?? LOL
I have to see a good pic to be impressed..there just to rare....and finding one in a truck? I havent heard anyone selling one! You always run across the 428 every now and then..on occation a 406.... But the only trucks I have ever seen were street rods or custom trucks with 427's in them..abd they werent for sale..or the motor was sold seperate from the vehicle they were in...JMO.. I hope he does have a 427 in it!! Way Cool..But I need to see it....

I was told I had a 302 or 351 when I bought mine. First glance under hood and I knew it wasn't a small block. It was an FE. How could anyone mistake that I don't know. Point is some people really don't know or care to know what they have. I'm not saying he has a 427 but it could be possible that a few owners back someone replaced the 360 with a crate 427 from Ford. Fast forward to today and along the way it wasn't mentioned to the new owner. Maybe it was laying around for future project and someone forgot to install it. Other half got mad and sold it to someone not knowing it was valuable. My other half looks at my trucks as junk. Nevermind the almost $10K under the hood. I'm just saying let's not be mean to him. He doesn't know what he has by his own admission. Only what he thinks/hopes to have. I agree we need clear daytime photo's to help him out.

Back when I was racing boats, one of the guys had a tow vehicle, an F-250 with a 427 in it. It was a single 4 barrel hydraulic cam motor than he'd install a low riser dual 4 barrel with a pair of 390CFM carbs. Still looked cool and did a bunch better on gas mileage. His hood was always open during daylight hour for the bragging rights.
