Yup C8AE-H heads are just plain-jane, but I have a pair in my garage that are FAR from plain-jane CJ exhaust valves and lots of porting.
If I'm not mistaken, stock CJ heads flow less than a set of C8AE/D2TE's that are ported with larger valves.
Yep Art, If I remember right in pecking order its the C4's then the C1, D2's, C8's,C6's something like that..and then a little change's around with full blown port work..I have all the flow's for those heads Some where in my pile of *****.....
Why can't someone make a sound track in CD of a displacement whistler like they use in stock cars, a sure way to identify a motor? Once you know the stroke you can find the bore be it standard, .020", .030", .040 or more oversize, you get the idea? A home displacement checker be it out of plastic made in China plus cheap for home use.
Three years ago I loaned out my Bore Scope to a IA (inspector aircraft) friend, he claims it was stolen from him. Well there goes my $850 speciality tool
that Pratt & Whitney gave me as a "departing gift me to me". Sure worked great on motorcycles, FE's, even lawnmower motors. Wife said NO WAY on her!
Back to the whistler, I recall it would detect the difference between a hot motor and a cold motor in different displacement readings due to block / bore expansion.
All you would need is a pitch tone vs displacement chart, the most accurate way would be tracking the frequency on a dual trace oscilloscope (mine quit workong) with the proper microphones.
A strange mind thinks in strange ways, why be normal?

Well guys it maybe a few year until I tear it down, So I guess the mystery is solved.. From what I have seen at the old barn.. there a hogpog of FE there and parts stolen from all of them ( My guess would be to keep this one running ) So who knows what I have.. 360-390 heads. 4.05 stroke, Iron 4bbl intake, cross bolt mains.. Who knows what it is.. what FE came with w 4bbl iron intake? And is there a way to date the heads?

You don't need to tear it down to Id a 427 block. And as I posted before, if it's got a 4" stroke and a 427 block, you've got a 454 Ford there. TRW originally made the pistons for the 410/428 swap into a 427 block. I did one back in the early 80's. 4.26"(.030 oversize) bore X 3.98" stroke yeilds a 454 cubic inch motor. Drives the Chevy guys nuts when they see it.
