It appears that the Calgary Flames dressed a bunch of pilot lights tonight.

After the 1st period The team played like they were playing shinny.

I haven't posted in a while. Why? Several reasons. But the big one is that I've been too busy watching HOCKEY!!!!

As mentioned before, I am a very casual fan. I really haven't followed the sport all that close. We are 60 miles from a junior hockey team (that's like the minor leagues in baseball right?) and I can count the games I've been too on one hand.
But I started watching the Hawks this year, and they stunk, and I've always been a fan of Mario with the overcoming illness to return to Pittsburgh and all (even though I couldn't tell you much about his game). But I've been glued to OLN's coverage of the playoffs.

I love it. I guess since I don't have a serious rooting interest in any one team I've been able to just watch and enjoy. (although I did drink a Dr. Pepper and pull for the Stars there a coupla games - fat lot of good it did them) I'm learning more about the game all of the time. The other night my son sat on my lap for a while and watched the game with me for a while and they called Anaheim for Icing. He asked, "why'd they stop skating?" And I said "They were called for icing." He asked, "What's icing?" And I said "It's what they put on cake."

And I know that's a lame joke, but he's six and thought it was great.

Anyway my list of things I'm glad I saw so far.
Martin St. Louis.
The Oilers with all those 3rd period goals in game 6.
Iginla dropping the gloves and helmet and saying "Wanna go?" with less than a minute off the first period clock in game 6.
I haven't seen nearly enough of the Sharks, Sens or the Devils, but looks like I'll get to see more of them real soon.

oh and BOOOOOOOOOO Detroit!

Not if it takes 7 goals to win a game I'd hate to be goalie in that series with all the firepower coming at you.

Well, the firepower came and went. whoodathunkit. Unbelievable game by Miller.

And the Devils look invincible up until now. What happened?

Anaheim: 3 strait shut-outs? wow.

I'm stunned by all the series so far. Glad i'm not a betting man.

So much for my pic this year (Detroit). Although, I was so happy to see the Rangers get spanked so hard! I think I'll start rooting for the Sabres. They look sick. I can't believe how they are doing against NJ.
