At least one or twice a year I make a point of removing the boot, and unbolting the rear flange of the drive shaft....and at that point you can pull the two pieces of the shaft apart. Just be sure to use a piece of chalk and mark the two pieces of the shaft so you put it back the same exact way it came off. Do not try to remove the blue coating on the splines.....just wipe it down with a rag and re grease it.....then when your sliding the two pieces back together, make sure the air can burp out of the boot and that. Then I use a zip tie to re-secure the boot......I figured a hose clamp could affect the balance of the shaft....????

I used zap-straps. Haven't had any vibrations or other problems (yet). But yes, I will make sure it goes back together the same way it came apart.
