There are two places I think that will be good.

There is a place called Ha Ha Tonka State Park its free but is daily and closes down and there is no alcohol allowed. I don't know how every feels about that?

There is another place that I thank would be awsome its Lake of the Ozarks State Park.It offers everything and it has camping there for $7-$14 and it does allow alcohol if people want, too.Like I said I don't know how everyone fells about that.

My wife said she had alot of meetings down there and she thinks Lake of the Ozarks State Park would be the best one for us.I will do more research and let you all know more.Take a look at links I have posted here and let me know.

I do not drink at all (can't with my meds), so that is not a consideration for me.

I have never been to that area of the state, but they both sound nice.

I think the lake offers more of a variety of activities from just those pages though.

ford_truck_man, I know it gets pretty busy down there on the weekends do you know if they have a big enough parking area so that we can all be together or can you find out if there is anyway to get some space set aside for us?

What's everyones ideas as far as events and such? Should we make it just more of a get together or some what of a show and shine type thing?

I would like to get everyone with their truck in the same area and draw some attention to us and maybe attract some new members. We could even try and get some kind of banner or something to hang up.

Any and all suggestions welcome and thanks everyone for helping getting this thing going.

My plan was when we figure out the place. I'll let them know what's going on and see what kind of stuff they offer for a group/organization and go from there. They offer recrevations so we can do that too.
They also have a place just a couple of miles up the road from the park were people cruise. It's actually along the Bagnell Dam Strip. So if you want a show and shine.
The banner idea is awsome.

To move farther I need an idea of how many people and how many people want to camp. They have regular campsites that you can have two tents on for $8.But again I will call them and see what they offer for bigger groups.Just need a ball park on how many people.

It does sound like a good place and doesn't look too far away from the strip. When we get the location set I will start a new thread and have it stickied at the top of the forum hopefully then more people will respond wether or not they're coming.

Show and shine is fine, for those that want to, mine's a work horse, so looks aren't first cncern, but the mods to it would be the interest of it. Trick to it is being able to afford fuel to bring it vs. bringing wheels that I can afford to show up in, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this unfortunately. As much as I like to bring it, it may be a choice between making it or not depending how things go between here and there. Perhaps a rider that could help out a shade on cost may make a difference... (Hear me Chrono? ) But just bringing that point up, don't let it change the plans on that alone, just a consideration to remembr. But yes, grouping will help. We'll see what the interest level is in regards to the events, and go from there. A simple cook out and show off the trucks as we can I would say is the baseline, and go from there.

Thumbs up interest

I just wanted to register my interest. L of the O isn't far for me; hopefully the '62 will be in appropriate shape to drive by then. It won't be pretty to look at by then.

Smile Update

I talked to the people at lake of the Ozark state park. They do not offer anything for meetings or get togethers. What they said was we have to rent the camp space and you are aloud 6 people per site.So I don't know if this will work?

There is another place that I'm going to check into. Its called American Legion Campground. It's located below the Bagnell Dam Strip and would give us more publisity if that is what were looking for?

I talked to my wife and she thinks it would be better if everyone is bringing there other half's because there are allot of shops and stuff to give them something to do while we do ours. There is a huge parking lot at the end of the strip before the dam that we could put up a banner and show off our rigs.

There are allot of car shows that go on down there and they usually stay at the Legion and cruise the strip so if were looking for more show and getting interest I think this is the ticket. But if we are looking for just a quiet get together the State Park is good.

So just another idea.Like I said I'm going to call the Legion and the Chamber of Commerce today to get more ideas or if there is more to offer that I've mist.Let me know what you think so far.

How about a picnic area or pavilion that we could get reserved for the day?

Yeah there is a swim beach with pavilions and BBQ pits at a place called PB2 (public beach #2) in Osage Beach off of 54 hwy. They also have a marina and boat launch area.

I called them and it is $40 for the day from daylight till dark. Aug 5th is open at this time. She said there is limited parking at the pavilion but they have a huge over flow parking lot that we could line our trucks up and put a banner up. And still get some traffic to get people interested.

The date is open at this time but I know that it gets real busy in the summer there from the locals who don't have access to the lake. So I don't know how long it will be.

How does this sound?

Now we are getting there.

That sounds pretty good to me. We have pavillions like that around the lakes here and they work out great for gatherings.
