Hey Guys, Woodscustom here, I'm 52 and retired US Army. I live north of Jefferson City and just picked up a new project. One I have been waiting for a long time to become available. It's a pleasure meeting all of you and getting your help!
My project truck is a 1973 / 79 Ford Supercab F550 Dumptruck. It's got a 400 engine, 435 4 Speed, Divorced 205 Transfer Case, Closed knuckle Dana 60 and a Rockwell Rear axle. Gear ratio is 4.88. Doing 3000 RPM it will speed right along at 61 MPH. The Bed had been chopped to 8' to accommodate the Supercab. It is a pretty mean rascal and his name is BIG GUN.
I sure would like to drop a 429 Truck engine in it.

I like it, I have a 78 Supercab F250 4x4 I am going to make a dually out of. It will be an automatic though. It has the Dana 60 front and rear. Already have the dually hubs for the front axle.
Why the 429 truck engine? They are gas hogs and not much power. A well built 460 would be a better choice.
Hello! Newbie member here. We live in the KC area (Blue Springs). We have a 1995 Ford F150 Derrick Thomas Edition (go chiefs!) which we lovingly call BIG RED. I plan on putting up pictures and a timeline of all we have done so far in a post (if I can figure out how). This is my first forum ever and I've joined to give and get ideas for sourcing parts, making fixes, improvements, etc. We also have a 2014 Ford Explorer with no mods (the wife's car) and a 2018 F150 that is just starting out its journey to becoming the beast my husband always dreamed of. Ford-love is in my husband's blood. He is a Roush, after all.
Welcome to FTE and the Missouri chapter. Stop by the Missouri chapter forum list to make you very own thread and also drop by the monthly chat and BS thread and intro to the group. We all are on the monthly chat and BS thread daily. I start a new chat thread each month.
This isn't my first F150, but my first time on this forum. I'm looking to lower this truck and go with smaller tires. If you have a 3" lift and want to go higher, let me know. 2007 King Ranch with 212K on the odometer, but 37K on the new engine. 6" of lift on SVT wheels wrapped in 35 Dick Cepek tires. I recently took the time to polish the paint and it shines like no tomorrow! Just not in this picture! This picture was taken after I washed it and cleaned it up after a few years of living on a gravel road. This is my boat hauler for now! I had an 08, but the lifter issue forced me to sell it and if it comes up on this engine, well it will get sold as well. LoL
