I Just got my truck (6.0, F-350 SD) back after getting the 3 recalls done. (Emissions reflash, Wiring harness recall, and Duct clamp) Sad to report that the idle is much louder than before (Like a D____e) , but on the good side, the throttle response is much better. (alot less turbo lag) As for mileage, I was getting between 14.5 and 15.5 mpg running (checked over 5 tank fulls) all city/highway. I will report back when I get a full tank or 2 thru it. Might be awhile, thou.
Well had an appointment to get the racalls done but Rita postponed it and the town (Kaplan, La.) were my dealer is located took a prtty good hit so it may be awhile before they are back up and running. My truck is running good so am not too worried about it. Have been lucky have had 2 storms this month and we have been in the area between both and on the outer edges of the storms, some tree damage is all. I left for Rita and went to my brothers just north of Gulfport, Miss. Helped him in his clean up. That is one big mess over there.Has anyone had any problems by not having the recalls done right away?

Bosko back again. No problems so far with the 05E15 recall. Quiet idle seems to be gone - not a problem here. Throttle is more responsive, less turbo lag. No gas mileage figures yet. Will advise. I read, with interest, opinions as to Ford's response if you do not respond to the recall notices and something recall related goes bust. CYA
I got the recall finished on Friday. Originally they had my truck in the shop all day, only to tell me at the end of the day, that they couldn't finish because they had run out of EBP sensors. Yesterday was the first day I had really driven the truck and lo' and behold a problem. Coming up a pretty steep hill I felt some type of liquid spray my elbow. When I got home about a 1/4 mile later I noticed liquid all inside my front, driver's side wheel well, shock, springs, and part way down the side of the truck. It turned-out to be coolant. The truck had never blown coolant before this. Coincidence with the recall or what?
If there's this much coolant loss, there is a hole in a hose somewhere or someone forgot to retighten something after the recall work. No way that the EGR cooler or head gaskets will lose enough coolant to come all the way up to the driver's side window...not that I have seen.
Just had the 3 recalls completed on my 04 F350 FX4, not sure why they replaced the CAC. I had previously blown the turbo hose off before and they replaced the clamp. Idle sounds more like the older engines, loud! Throttle is better, passed some folks easy this morning.
As promised here is my update. All was well on the 500 mile trip and just completed 1800 miles of towing. Truck still runs great and mileage was just a shade under 15mpg; but load on trailer was only about 1,700 pounds. When I tow my fiver again will see if it remains around 11 mpg as it was before recall. Do like this truck though.
Mine was dropped off at o'dark thirty this AM to have the past two recalls done. We'll see . . . i'm a tad nervous, although okay that my truck will be louder.

Unfortunately, your probably right about that. Each time I've had work done on it, the truck has come back with wiring plugs not reconnected, bolts that were loose or missing, the air filter guage hanging down, etc. That's why I suspect it's the problem now, but I can't for the life of me see where it is coming from. Is there any soldering involved with the 05E15C recall? Or is it just a straight 3-way connector/sensor replacement?
Even some of our best techs (there are a couple that are extremely good) occasionally will leave something awry; noone is perfect. As long as they make good on it, I don't suppose there is too much of an issue, but I would most certainly take it back and make them fix it ASAP.
I was retightening, reinstalling, and fixing a bunch of stuff I forgot to do on my truck a month after the last time we yanked the cab on it- and I was the one who put 50% or more of it back together. It's really too easy to leave something undone on a truck as complex as these.
Matt- I used to be understanding toward the techs at this dealership, I had heard the horror stories of what it was like to be one, that is, until the moment they used the phrase "customer abuse." The last thing you want to tell a customer who's truck has just been towed in after having left his wife stranded in the middle of a busy freeway is that the reason the o-ring on the injector failed was because the truck was being abused. Prior to that I had overlooked all the grease, oil, and fuel everywhere inside the cab when I got it back. The unhooked wires and missing bolts. I overlooked the statement that my truck must have been a "fluke" when the RMS was leaking, because the tech had spoken to techs in other dealerships, and the Ford Hotline (whatever that is), and nobody had ever heard of this happening before. I let slide the fact that they had my truck all day, only to tell me late in the afternoon that they couldn't finish the recall because they didn't have the parts. I had even let slide the fact that the tech made it a point to document on a repair invoice that the "addition of oversized tires will cause premature parts failure." Even though if he had bothered to look he would have seen that, while the tires weren't OE, they are stock size. So while I admire your willingness to defend fellow techs, these particular techs have actually earned their bad reputation. And like I said, these are the "best" in the area. And that's my rant.
