I had the EGR, the EP Sensor, and connector replaced under warranty in early August, before this recall was issued. My service manager says that they are still required to do it again when I bring it in for the oil change next week. They need to be sure that there isn't a "newer" EP sensor than the "newer" one they put in back in August. Also, there's the newest flash to PCM and transmission to be completed. I was advised to call in "a couple of days" ahead to schedule the work because they can only get one EP sensor a week from Ford.

Yes, I still let Ford do the oil changes - 30,000 coming up. I once had the experience of being refused warranty work on another make of vehicle when I was only 100 miles past the limit. It seems I had not established "a service history" with the dealer".

Since my warranty expires in 6,000 miles, I will be starting a new thread concerning the advisabilty of purchasing an extended warranty.

O5E15 was suspended in July but reinstated on 8/18/05; it is currently active.

Frankly it doesn't seem to have helped or hurt my normal city mileage; I think it runs a little better though. Haven't had any road trips since the flash.

I just got my truck back from the dealer, they did the 05E15 recall. They put small label in the engine compartment that states Reprogram PCM 447A-EOF. Does anyone know what this means ?

I havent gotten the latest recall either. The only letter I have recieved was for the wire harness repair which was done. After reading through this post I have checked at myford.com and it shows no active recalls for my truck. Does anyone know for sure if this is for all 04's or just certain 04's. After the wires harness recall I stil had the surge but It doesnt really bother me that much. Love the truck gets great mileage as is. Thanks

I am definitely in the same boat.

I've got an appointment to take mine in Monday. I have three recall letters at the house, so I guess they'll have something to do.

Lately the truck has hesitated or bucked under certain acceleration conditions. It started under load, but now does it unladen as well. Advice here was to disconnect the EGR, but I never did it. 45K on it, bone stock. Mileage still a little over 17 in mixed driving. The bucking while accelerating has become a little annoying, so I'm hoping that gets fixed.

Thumbs down 05E15 Ford recall

Earlier this week I posted that I took my 04 SD built 11/03 to the dealership to have the enhancement to the 05E15 recall performed. The dealership said Ford had suspended the recall via the Ford hotline.

After reading the replies from FTE, I called the dealership yesterday, Lawarance Marshall, in Hemstead, TX to verify the recall suspension. They did not call me back.

I called Ford customer service today and they reviewed my issue and said the recall was in effect for my truck VIN.

Also today Ford called the dealership to inform them that the recall was reinstated as of 8/18/05.

I also called the dealership today and talked to the service manager. After his review he said "sorry for the inconvience that they made a mistake". Mistakes happen.

I felt from his response that "they really didn't care or so what". I asked him to think about how the customer might feel. If you can not trust the dealership to get a simple recall right then how are you to trust them to correctly perform the routine maintenance? Lawarance Marshall Ford Is one of the largest dealers in Texas. Go figure. I know they want me to come back and buy another vehicle.

Punisher,
Yes I lost the quiet idlle with the flash. As I said earlier I think the idle change has something to do with the EGR and the flash. I have only towed once since the flash and it appears my towing mpg went from 9-10 to about 11mpg (but this could be a number of things). Additionally there has been a slight change in tow/haul, seems a little less agressive while braking downhill.

Thanks Sandblaster.

I've never heard a definitive answer regarding the quiet idle on the early 04's. I know the 03's had pilot injection, and a lot of people think the early 04's had it, but a couple of very knowledgeable guys on here say the 04 quiet idle is a result of ICP manipulation. I sure like it, whatever it is.

Question JLake

I have a 01/2004 build F-350 6.0 SD and I received 3 recall letters from Ford. I am still not sure I want them to touch my truck for the Emissions Recall 05E15 ReFlash. The truck starts fine all year round, and I'm getting about 15 mpg city/highway mix. Can anyone tell me how long I have before I have to take it in?? In other words, before they change my truck to something I don't like. LOL mileage = Good, Loud Idle = Bad
I guess I'm in the same boat as Keeseter CO and Punisher.

look dude, i'm a diesel tech, these recalls are just to cover fords butt. they used their own electronics with a international motor. that is the problem. 05e15 is a recall on the exhaust pressure sensor. the things get carboned up sometimes. 05s34 is a recall on your ficm harness. it gets chafed and will cause all kinds of drivabillity issues. 05b29 is a recall on you charge air cooler pipe. they blow oil all over and pop off under lots of boost. take your truck in before your problems arise. these 6.0L are finicky hussies
