I had recieved the letter yesterday but had the recall done last month. I saw it first on the my ford website. I did get the new calibration and my mileage has gone up substantially. The truck doesnt seem to run any different but I like the fact its getting better fuel mileage. Hope this helps. Mine did need the sensor and connector. I have had no problems with the truck prior to the recall other than poor mileage. Love the truck.

Most likely.

I'm sure Vic or someone around him has had his hands on this calibration for a while; He'll be able to answer for sure whether your tuner will need an update.

I've got an 04/04 and got the letter too. Man, my 6.0 has run great from the start, gets 17-18 mpg, and still has the "quiet idle" feature. I really don't want to risk messing it up. Anybody else in the same boat?

Punisher, I too still have the "quiet idle". I have some very minor surging which I live with because I don't want a reflash. 01-04. It got 15K on it now with about 30% towing and I'm a very happy owner.
Recently the check engine light has come on and I check my "BullyDog Monitor" and find 0-DTC's so I reset the light and go on. I do it even when driving. Milage is 15 in town 19 on road and average between 11-12 when towing.
I'm looking at the loss of the quiet ide this time and wish it wouldn't happen but 20 months is about all I can expect after all what I've read here. I will write back after the recall is complete. Good Luck

Hey Jimmy, thanks for the info. I haven't had any problems but I guess I 'll be on the lookout for the engine light. I'm running the Predator and have about 20,000 miles so far. I tow a dump trailer with 4 tons of gravel trailer in it at 9000' elevation all summer long and just love the 6.0 as it is.

I guess I have the luxury of waiting a while. I'd sure like to hear what you think after you get the new flash!

Had the 05E15 recall completed a couple of weeks ago. The truck ran good before the flash and still runs good now with a couple of changes, louder idle (change in EGR programing?), seem to have had a slight improvement in fuel milage (1-2mpg), surging appears to be gone. Overall I am satisfied at this point.

Well, this is the THIRD recall on my 2004. Yeah, I'll take it into to see what Ford says.

But to Ford: If you keep this recall junk up, I'm going to buy from somebody else!

I don't have problems, completely staisfied. No tows, no problems worth mentioniong at all.

I'm begining to wonder whether Ford picked my truck out as some kind of investigative guinepig???

However, I'm getting tired of this after three recalls.

??????????

Awsome truck, but I can't deal with such inconvenience and I don't see and end to this yet!

I had a "95 Dodge that spent 19 days in the shop for brake problems. So I might be a little gun shy!

Help my confidence!!!

One person has had 6 recalls, U have had 3, with no problems. I can't quite see the comparison...Ur Dodge spent 19 days in the shop, and yours has spent none (except for recalls that offer free work and upgrades that will continue to keep you on the move).

So, the confidence is that your truck has not failed you, it has run great, and with this recall, I am sure it will continue to run great. And, according to most reports, people are getting better mileage with the new Flash. You get an improved part, and can put a few more nickels back into your pocket at the end of each day. That would work for me.

Doesn't my SCT tranny tune flash kinda delete the FMC flash anyway? Or not? I got the letter too and will probably take my truck in soon. When I tow my 5th wheel, I get the CEL AND I've got a Ham radio in there...when I key the mic...the truck starts to stall and smoke grey out of the pipe. LOL Could it be voltage to those sensors acting up?
Hope the dealer can keep from spilling coffee in my truck this time.

Oh and...what about that SCT box...will it still work after this flash? hmmm This is the second recall in a month for me....at least they are fixing the problems...wish they'd do it all at once though, instead of this recall a month stuff.

I have not received a recall and there are none listed on myford.com for my truck. So are all 04's affected because if they are I have not received one.

Thanks,
Jayme

Smile Recall 05E15

04 SD
CC, 4wd, 6.0l
Build Date 11/03
Mileage 32,000

After receiving my recall notice (05E15) I took my truck to the ford dealership in Hempstead, TX for the recall enhancements.

The dealer replaced the wire harness under safety recall 05S34 however the service rep said the day the work was scheduled for 05E15 they received a telephone alert notice from Ford canceling the recall.

Has anyone else had the same experience? This happened Tuesday, Sept. 13th. The good thing from all this was Ford paid for a rental car during the service period. A ford Focus. Some day I will write a short story on this experience.

The truck hasn't had any problems other than losing an injector at 15,000 miles. Fuel mileage is 15 to 16 mpg in town and 17 to 18.5 mpg on the highway. All depends on the rpms. With every tank I add Standyne which Tim recommended on this website. I also have a Snugg top cover on the back which helps with wind drag.

Sandblaster, what was your mileage before and after the reflash?

And just to confirm, you did lose the quiet idle feature with this flash?
