New Recall 05E15

While taking the truck in , for the recalls, has been a bit of an inconvenience, I'm glad Ford took action before I had a problem.
1. replacement of the injector wireing harness
2. replacement of the CAC tube
3. replacement of the exhaust backpressure sensor p/n 4C3Z-9J460-A
I am assuming that the calibration was left as is because this was not mentioned on the service invoice. I am happy about the CAC tube replacement, I pulled on the old one and was able to move it 1/4 inch either way, even after tighting the clamp! Why it didn't blow off is a miracle. So I do not notice any real difference in the truck with these recalls. The last flash my truck received was Jan or Feb, the power is great and I get 14 or so mpg towing and 18+- on the long highway, not bad for 7500 lbs of truck.
The loaner they let me use was a 2005 Dodge ram with the overrated Hemi engine. I towed my 3000 LB construction trailer around with it today. I cannot believe the lack of GO even with the tranny in tow-haul. Some time if you think your power stroke has no power you should hook up your favorite trailer to a 5.7L gas motor. It is like you are dragging an anchor in back of the truck!

Good things: I felt it shifted better, more positive but not harsh. Reason? Next any hint of the minor surging I have had was gone. Never surged once (normally I slip it into neutral). So now I'll wait for the milage but since I don't drive it much that will take time....
Other good news is I like it with the red door handles I put on lask week; now it looks like the "fake" King Ranch I wanted it to. (3 KR badges put on last year).
Picked up another "All Chrome Stock Grille" for my buddies '04 4X4, He's been drulling over mine for 6 months...Got to send in a picture some day (Ford should have built red KR's)
Good luck too All ...I know I'll still like, Damn sounds like a D----e
( Not to bust anyones bubble but I replaced my exhaust back-pressure sensor 6 months ago for a dead pedal issue. The sensor end that receives exhaust gases was halfway plugged with wet oil and carbon deposits. The steel tube feeding exhaust gas to the sensor was also slightly restricted. I replaced both the sensor and the steel tube at my expense and labor.
Replacing the EBP sensor will not solve the carbon deposits and replacing the EBP sensor will not solve the steel exhaust tube of carboning up. That will be a maintenance issue).
I did purchase the new updated EBP sensor last month and it is just sitting in my glove box.
Recently I pulled the EBP sensor out (which I replaced in January) and checked for deposits. Only thing seen is like wet oil with very little carbon. Needless to say I reinstalled the sensor but have the new one on hand as a back-up.
Yup, I have all three recalls outstanding for my truck. I still haven't decided to take the unit in to have the recalls done. I just may purchase the aluminum CAC tube assembly and install it my self. Then when I get around to performing a cooling system service I will be removing the coolant bottle to clean all the sand out of the bottle. At that time I will check the FICM harness for problems. However the positive comments for the most recent flash are enticing.
I do not like the fact that the only buffer for the FICM wiring harness if the harness is not damaged at this time is to install the thin plastic accordion-type plastic wrapped around the harness, per the TSB and pictures that I have seen on several other Ford related technician web sites.
If a Ford executive can prove to me in writing that I will not lose my fuel mileage or the tow/haul feature presently installed or that someone has my original program that I can install if I'm not happy with the updated flash I'll let someone touch my truck.
Remember my earlier post to this thread. The other poster stated that the Exhaust Pressure Sensor sometimes gets carboned up. That is the reason why the sensor is being replaced. At the sixth month of ownership of my truck, on this board even, I stated that my sensor and exhaust feed tube were carboned up. My original sensor opening was 50 percent blocked. I had a dead pedal issue in the snow coming home from work at night. I was in four wheel drive.
I replaced both the sensor and the tube. I also stated in my original post that replacing the sensor or the tube will not solve the problem of carbon build-up, only maintenance, ie R&R and clean the components or replace them. Remember, there is carbon from the normal burning of the fuel along with engine oil vapors from the PCV system.

I had this recall done. My engine idle sounds the same and I have better throttle response. My 2004 6.0 PSD did, until the first time it was flashed.
Of course, if one never had it, there is nothing to lose.
