I would have to say no. When I decelerated or cruised down the highway the engine is quiet.

The quiet idle was nice.
I'm disappointed that Ford advertised it as a reason to buy a 6.0 PSD and then took it away.

Thumbs up

Well, I did my first trip of 500 miles yesterday and I must say the recall fixes are okay in my book. No hesitation and no surging while in traffic! Have a great truck!!!

Mileage was just hair over 19 mpg at speeds of 75mph and some traffic jams of 3mph. Can not complain about that. My '72 Ford wagon got 8-10 mpg at those speeds.

Wow, thats good fuel economy for a one ton 4x4 truck. I must be missing some thing on this quiet idle issue. I was never told that the 6.0 had a quiet idle.

That mileage is amazing. I only get that when at 70 mph or less on the highway. I normally drive between 70-75 and get about 18 mpg's.

The original Ford hype said, among other things,
"..the pilot injection system is calibrated to reduce idle noise..."
See https://www.ford-trucks.com/news/idx...ke_Diesel.html
The original 6.0 PSD was really quiet for a diesel.

Well, I had the recall fixes done last week. Just returned from a 500-mile round trip, and the truck has never run worse! It was bucking, surging, wheezing and smoking so severely by the end of the trip I honestly thought it wasn't going to make it. I'm talking James Bond-quality smoke screen!

It's going back to the dealer, with instructions to fix it or burn it. This is TOTALLY unacceptable for a bone-stock '04 that turned 50K on this trip. I've only owned eight cars in my life, but in my limited experience, I've never owned a more problematic vehicle. It pains me to say it, but this thing is junk.

Recall said verbatim:

On some of the affected vehicles, the Exhaust Pressure (EP) sensor may fail; the electrical connector for the Exhaust Pressure (EP) sensor may have an intermittent connection; fuel delivery timing during cold weather may not be optimal; and/or Exhaust Gas Recirculation (.EGR) system operation at idle may not be optimal. These conditions may cause “Check Engine” light illumination, lack of power, hard starting, and/or rough engine operation. In addition, the on-board diagnostic (OBD) system on F250/350 and Excursion vehicles may not properly monitor the performance of the emissions control systems.

I HAVE NONE of these PROBLEMSn on my 2004 6.0.

The MAY or "MIGHT have" things in the Ford recall pisses me off!!!

It's like I might have a truck that Ford would like to look at...just to see if they (might) or (may) have this problem (situation).

Sorry, but even my recall letter from Ford, they said "might" and "may" so many times, that I feel that I likely don't have the problem at all!!!!!!!!

My warranty doesn't cover any "experimentation" by Ford...because it cost's me some $ to take and leave it at the dealer for such recall service. (Even though I'm under warranty.)

Now, if Ford's recall had said "you are affected and we absolutely must replace a connector and re-evaluate your unit" That would be different!!!

In such case, there would have been absolutely no question in my mind to get my truck to my dealer ASAP!

I'm not going to be a test bed for Ford at my expense.

FORD: don't tell me I "might" have a situation and that you want my truck for a day. Just tell me you are going to fix a KNOWN problem on my vehicle!!!

Otherwise don't bother me with the "might" and "may" Bull!!!

As I said in a previous post I had no problem on a 500 mile trip after the recalls being accomplished. For me it ran great. This week I leave for an 1,800 mile trip and I will let you know how it ran when I get back. This time I will be hauling a trailer and have a bed full so we will see. Really I think Ford has it together this time.

Took The Beast in this AM for the 05E15 Recall. So far, so good - but the day is young. The idle doesn't sound any louder and tow/haul is still there. Thanks to all who posted their observations, opinions, et al. When it comes down to it, I guess each one of us will have to make up his/her own mind about it. But, It helps to hear what others had to say. If anything goes wrong I will let y'all know.

I don't live in CA!!! So I apparently do not have to get this recall done for emission purposes perr CA laws...?????......?????.

SO. I ask again: What's in it for me.. WIFM????

Ford wants my truck AGAIN!!

I simply want to know why I should take my truck into my dealer for a Ford recall that says so many "Maybe" or "Might" situations??

edited for typos
