When Boyd's wife was showing that kid the store, she remarked that all of the cars in there are for sale. I wonder if anybody who ever buys a car from Boyd keeps it?
Major show cars are not kept by the original owners (professional car show promoters/exhibtors for the most part) very long. Once they have made the rounds of the major shows and have won as much money as possible and been paid to be feature car at the traveling shows they are turned over to free the funds for the next one. If the shows didn't offer new cars to see each year, spectators would stop coming. That's why Boyd will go to such extremes to assure the cars like the Woody is at a particular show, it's being paid to be there as a feature car.
I have no respect for Boyd or his boy Dewayne. I would not buy anything "Cottington".
I have witnessed Foose at a car show. He is a great guy. Charlie was there and I got to meet him. He is a good guy. Not to mention his home town is not too far from where I live.
I think it is great that Charlie and Mike now work for Foose. I think Boyd has got some real talented guys on his crew. I sure he will **** them off bad enough and they will quit. I am surprised Al came back. Dewayne needs to go.
I always thought that stuff was, well, encouraged by the TV producers for the benifit of the camera........
Right on. I am amazed that some people can watch these shows and somehow think they are watching spontaneous real life. Did a camera crew just happen to be present when Charley quit or Mike was fired? I enjoy the shows because I enjoy watching good craftsmen at work (despite the poorly crafted drama), but I know I am watching a contrived, scripted TV show, pro wrestling with cars.

Charley quitting and Mike being fired was "scripted"? Did the producers find them jobs with Foose too? I can just see that production meeting: "Boyd, this week to make the show more dramatic we'll have your best bodyshop manager quit just before you need that Corvette painted and go to work for your worst enemy. We've already talked to Chip and he's on board with it." "Oh yah, and for next week you'll pretend you discovered that Mike has been working for Chip behind your back on your time. Of course you'll immediately fire him, since we need him to design some wheels for an Overhaulin build we're doing the following week." "Do you think Jo can cry on cue or do we need to bring in a bunch of onions?"

People come, people go, things happen for various reasons. Putting those things on film in a manner suitable for TV is a technical effort by professionals. Like I said, some people choose to believe and that's OK, keeps these shows, pro wrestling, soap operas and the tooth fairy in business.

can someone tell me the story behind the max hemi? was there a reason this lucky kid got to design and help build this car?
Matt
I just saw the final episode. I looks like Max (the kid on the show) has terminal cancer and doesn't have much time left. I believe that is why he was in on the build.
He has terminal cancer and he is not expected to live another year. That is why it was the "make a wish car" it was his last wish to design the car. What I thought was wierd was the way Duwayne took it.
I think most of the shows are just one long commercial. They really don't show how to do something, just throw on $3 or 4 K. worth of new parts (as they smile and laugh). Boyd's show is a primer for sexual harassment and unsafe shop practices, I don't know why he hasn't been visited by the EPA, or lawsuits. The early "Shade Tree Mechanic" shows were great, but money talks.
Well the Federal goverment did fine a custom shop (WCC) West Coast Customs) also known as Pimp My Ride on MTV for 16,000 for removing of air bags on steering wheels and dash to install Tv's screen and DVD's players and such. I can understand its a saftey issue but i believe its up to the owners/customers choice if he or she is footing the bill to have it customise, but i do believe that the guest on pimp my rides should be at least told advance about the removal of air bags.... what is odd is WCC does nice work but the show pimp my rides are just dumb.....
Been an avid watcher of overhaulin since it came on last year Not sure what happen to Courtney she was gone then back for like 1 or 2 epidsodes then gone again. But i have notice they have cut back on having the Host's everywhere in the show. Last week's epidsode chris was hardly seen and Aj is probly Courtney's replacement. Never really watched AHR maybe once or twice. OCC i used to watch it but grew tired of it. Likes Spikes Horsepwer tv. Overhaulin has done two shows in other states they were at Wyotech and i think down in Texas but i could be wrong about texas. Plus Foose is very popular with other builder's he has done some design work for Unique Concepts down in Texas he did the Stang for Gone in 60 seconds and then did a Camaro and then a 2005 stang that will have his name all over it.But if you notice on overhaulin that yes it is a sweet classic and would be sweet to see it in original form but that's not what the owner wants that's why Foose ask's the insider what their other half wanted to do tot the car or truck.Maybe someday we'll see an owner want their vehicle brought back to original form but i like the fact that they do put a better suspension and brake system on the car/truck and i think they have rebuilt a engine on the show but i think alot of times it's just easier putting in a new upto date engine that get's better gas miliege than the old one and pluse they only have 7 days to do in so rebuilding an engine might make it to tight a schedule to get it done so they get a new engine and tranny. All in all it's what the owner wants not what we want or Chip Foose wants.
