I agree with KW, Ford notified me that there was a problem and they took care of it. Has anybody elses dealership called them back and ask if they were happy with the service they recieved? I got a phone call asking just that a couple of days ago.
Dropped my truck off to my dealer on tuesday for the transmission recall..They said the recall was for a c-clip that needed to be installed in the tranny....After removing the tranny they found other problems besides the clip...4500 miles only...Well i'm picking it up today..I'll see if any change is noticed...
C'mon guys, you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill on the transmision issue. It only effects those transmissions that were "installed" in the trucks that were built between about April 01 and Jun 30.
The problem is not with Ford but with the mfg'er of the transmissions and even then it was due to the failure of one of the computer driven presses.
Ford addressed the problem as soon as it was known and only effect those folks that bought trucks, that were built in that particuliar time frame were effected, no one else.
If you didn't receive a letter from Ford, then there's a 99.9% chance it doesn't effect you. About the only way this will effect you, is, if you bought a truck, previously owned by someone else.
As I stated above, my truck was effected. I called the dealer to verify the letter and they advised me to bring it in as soon as I could. I did, they fixed it in two days and I've now put about 2000 miles on the truck since the problem was fixed. To tell the truth, I can't tell a nickles worth of difference, except maybe the transmission is a little "tight" like it was when new.
If you don't trust your dealer, then for gosh sakes, call Ford CS and give them your VIN number. They'll tell you straight up, if you're effected or not plus where you can go to have the problem fixed.
Tinytrixie, it's the return line coming from the cooler. The main reason he put it there is because my truck has over 5k miles. I would guess that the hose being rubber right there factored into it also.
If you look carefully at the picture, you can see the flow arrow on the inline filter pointing in the direction of the factory bypass filter. For perspective, this is the view you'll see if you put your head under the truck just in front of the passenger-side front wheel, with your feet sticking perpendicular away from the truck.
--snip-- Has anybody elses dealership called them back and ask if they were happy with the service they recieved? I got a phone call asking just that a couple of days ago.
I think this is getting to be standard procedure, especially in the larger metro areas. Each and every time I've been in for anything, the dealership called and that was followed up by a letter.
If you have anything to say that is the least bit derogatory, they want to know about it before you mail the survey to Ford. From what I understand Ford has gotten back on this Big Customer Satisfaction push, since a Ford is now in control of the company again.
FL450, you say built between about April 01 and Jun 30.
but mine is built in that time frame, truck assembly, motor and transmission all. They say mine is not affected by the recall. Can you explain that? I am not one of the ones complaining about ford but this does not make sense. I would rather not have them take the tranny apart but if there is a problem I would like it resolved.

From the truck shop service mgr. The only trucks that are effected were the trucks built during that time frame. But, not all of the trucks are necessarily effected.
You could very well have one of the tranmissions that was mfg'd before or after the problem was discovered at the transmission factory.
That's the reason I indicated eariler, if you have questions, call your dealership. If you're still not satisfied, then call Ford CS with your VIN.
Additionally, if you didn't receive a letter, and you're the original owner, then its highly unlikely that the recall effects you.
Does any one know if all TS tranny are built in the same place and if there is more than one place that manufactures the parts? I will probably call Ford to double check to see if my truck is affected since all of my build dates are in the affected time frame. Just trying to figure out why some are affected and some are not when they are built in that time frame. What was the expiration on this repair just so I know how much time I have?
Recall expires September 30, 2005, regardless of mileage. I think all 5R110s are assembled in one facility, but parts come from different places.
I have come to believe that not even Ford knows exactly which transmissions have bad planetary assemblies. More than a few techs have noted that there are failures of units outside the recall range. My guess is that Ford is not able to identify where exactly all of the bad planetary assemblies went. The date range is probably not the only determining factor, since it appears that not all vehicles with 5R110s that fall in that range are flagged by OASIS.
I've got a 05 F350 that was built in Dec. 04. Ford notified me of a recall, something about a snap ring rotating out of position from repeated forward/reverse shifting. This occures a lot while plowing snow.
I haven't notice any shifting problems yet but then again I haven't plowed any snow and the vehicle has only a 1000 miles on it. I'm also waiting for the dealer to get the parts in.
I'm really concerned about anyone screwing with my tranny especially after I just paid a bundle for the truck. I would feel better if they would swap it out for a factory unit. I only hope the dealer's people know what they are doing. You here about all kinds of horror stories about workmanship at the dealer.
Anybody have the recall work done-how did it turn out?
Mine was built in Dec. 04 then why did I get a recall notice fro a tranny problem. I would rather not have anyone screw with the tranny considering many horror stories about dealer workmanship.
