Used car technician...Phoenix, Az. I work a 40 hour week for a living, just to send it on down the line. I've been turning wrenches for a living for 6 years now. I love working with my hands! a lil college, 3 years learning metal working ( hot and cold shaping of metals up to 7 inches thick, as well as ,drill, saw, and shear )2 years driving a towtruck, 4 years taking down trees over peoples homes 1 branch at a time, 7 years commercial construction...yeah jack of all trades, master of none.

Im a carpenter. Started out when I was in high school, then was in the US Navy Seabees. I got out and worked for alot of different companies, now I own my own business. Its not bad work, although it can be boring at times.
I spent several years behind the counter at a parts store, then decided I had had enough of that, and decided to do construction/maintainence work on my own. My first job was for an electrical contractor, and I went to work for them for several years. Got my electrical license, moved, and decided to start my own electrical contracting business. Now I do that full time, build houses part time, as a spec venture, and own rental properties on the side. Now, if i could find something to do in the remaining 3 hours per week.....
Electrical Designer for a consulting engineering company specializing in the pharmaceutical industry. Previously, designed electrical systems for supermarkets and retail stores.
Went to college for Journalism... I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up in engineering...
Past lives: Comic Book store manager; Autoparts Counterman; Theater stage-hand.
For the past 8 years,
Design Engineer for a manufacturing company, pays well, very stable, kind of boring though. I also offer freelance CAD services – good for cash flow, but I’ve got to hustle.
Before that,
POP Designer, developed hardware systems for point of purchase displays. Challenging job, lots of travel, but I got submarined by a small minded, untalented supervisor.
Before that,
Self employed contractor, designed and coordinated construction of retail stores – lucrative, but my only client was too unstable to continue waiting for contract renewal. On the side I also developed and sold web sites, mostly adult subscription sites, (insanely lucrative in the early 90’s).
Before that,
Commercial renovation project manager, just killing time really. I was also a bartender, very lucrative, but the hours and working conditions were tough on health. At the same time I worked as a private escort. Good pay, excellent benefits, and in case you’re wondering…Yes!
Before that,
Store planner, designed and coordinated construction of retail stores. I was way too immature for corporate america and got fired for it.
Before that,
Parts counter person for a Honda motorcycle dealership – just killing time while sending out resumes. I also worked as a bicycle shop manager, aka, Lord of the flies.
Before that,
Engineering Student – 4 1/2 years of pure hell.
I work in the control room of an electrical powerstation. I pretty much do what Homer Simpson does when he is at work. Except for being there for the big blackout of 03, it has to be the most boring job on the planet.
I usually tell people that I interfere with nature for a living...I'm an equine reproduction technician, so I do repro exams, artificial insemination, embryo transfers, and so on. I've spent most of my life knee deep in horse manure, so it wasn't much of a switch to go shoulder deep. Worked here and there as a horse trainer, ranch grunt, custom hayer in the past. Also spent a summer installing lawn sprinkler systems and several semesters in school doing office work/necropsy duty for the state vet diagnostic lab, but it's nice to be back working on the live ones.
