I work 5 day shifts before I leave next month. I'm trying to find a way to switch my days to nights. Not likely. The only person I can switch with doesnt wanna be here thru the day either. Atleast on nights you kinda blend into the wood work....outta sight, outta mind.
Birdhunter1 checkin in at approx. 0000 on 10/26/04. Been a crappy day, I went to sleep about 8:30 this morning and I usaully sleep in teh evenings. It sucks having to modify sleep habits once you're in a routine. I still feel tired and I actually slept a fair amount yesterday. Got a union meeting tomorrow night so sleeping during the day again when I get home. Although I have to say it was nice to sit down at mom and dad's dinner table last night for a fresh cooked meal with them.

Sometimes....it just makes things all better....if not just for the evening.
Tomorrow I have to meet with our HR lady. Then meet my wife at the vets for my dog to get an ultrasound. Yippie. I hope all goes well. Shes the one going to Ohio with me.
Anything happened to my dog, I'd be in bad shape. Shes my grip on sanity.
We have other dogs. One almost as cool. Cetainly growing to be almost the same dog. She could save me from going crazy too.
But the one with the appt tomorrow....you'd think we were attached. My wofe often refers to her as the other woman.

Yeah my Brittany "Rocket" is the same way. To tell the story i got hin the day we started attacking Afganistan back in 2001. Dad and i traveled 4 hours one way to get him and on the way there the broadcast came over teh radio that we started the attack. Being (not gettin political) the big George W. Bush fan that I am, on the way home i decided his pedigree name would be George W.'s Freedom Rocket. That dog and i are best buds in every way, the first month I had him he was too small to put out with the big dog and it was too cold outside for him anyway so he slept in my room in a cage and through the days I would take him to my grandma's house, otherwise he would have stayed in a small cage all day in the house and I didn't like the idea. She's an old farm wife and never really took to any animal but she loved that dog and missed him when he was big enough to stay outside and I didn't have to take him to her house anymore. Anyway I took that dog everywhere with me those first few months and dad says when ileave for a few days Rocket looks sad. Dad also says he won't hunt the same if I'm not in the field, funny story but he ALWAYS brings my birds back first, I've caught it in several pictures that whenever teh bird gets up he looks at me to see where it is I am shooting. I never trained him to do that he just does.
Dogs are mans best friend. No one could tell me different.
Three of my four dogs are on hand signals. The one that isnt..I didnt have the time to train as a pup. Shes smart in her own way. One of the most cuddling dogs I ever met. Shes a healer/beagle mix.
My male red healer doesnt even need hand signals...with me. He keeps eye contact. Doin so, you'd think he ould read my mind. He's pretty hyper when he gets excited...but he still does great. Cows get out...just let him out....they'll go in as soon as they see him coming.
Once it was ugly.....all the cattle were out. My red healer and blue healer(dog goin tomorrow) seperated the cattle (about 30 or more), held them in two groups, then pushed em thru the gate . I wanted to brag on em so bad....but I couldnt. I'm the idiot that left the gate open.
My 4th dog is a Ridgeback mix. She just likes to run the cattle in circles for fun. Shes pretty much the watch dog of the group. She alerts and gets loud. My red healer then thinks he grows about a 1000 pounds all proud and commanding.
We had small lab for a couple years. She was accidently swapped in litters, and we got her with the healer/beagle pup. They were attached at the hip. She was pretty out of control. I was the only person she'd listen to. We gound her a new home. She is te only dog in the a Doctors house. His kids thinkshes the greatest....and she is...alone. She just got back from a European tour with the family last month. She's livin the good life.....I'm glad shes in the family she needed.

It's amazing what dogs learn. Dad says they all get a little anxious a minute or two before my truck pulls in the driveway, they hear it and no the tune of the engine I guess. You really want to see em get excited carry out a gun case and an orange vest, you'd think they were on cocaine or something they're so fidgety.
Thats funny. My dogs dont hunt. I think the Ridgeback would like it..but the rest are a working breed. I let em out of the fenced yard every morning when I get home. They run straight to my truck praying for a ride. Then back they come and we go for a walk. Gets em a little exercise out of the yard. The spend most of the day in the yard, but sleep in the house. They all have their spots. Works out prety well.
We also have a 18 year old cocker. He's blind, deaf, and silly. Good dog....but way slowed down. He's very much my wifes dog. She's had him since he was a pup. Its just bee the last year or two that he retired as the alpha dog. The others take good care of him. They all keep him outta trouble and straight if he gets disoriented in the yard.
Pep, that sounds cool about your dogs taking care of the old one. Maybe we should have politician training at your house, hell start with just kids and we wouldn't hae to worry about politicians anymore. This election stuff has me erked already. I can't wait till Nov. 7th when life returns to relaxation, the only "work" to do then for me will be guiding quail hunts and cutting firewood, and cattle chores plus the stuff you never get out of: laundry, dishes etc etc etc.
Police dispatch job. Interested to know what CAD program they're using. You know?
Sorry Pep, don't have a clue... havne't gotten any details like that yet. Hopefully I did well enough on the test to warrant the next level in the process (probably interview before a board). We'll see!

I'll bet you that that won't be the case, unfortunately. I think it'll be like 2000, only worse... the Democrats have already put together lawsuits disputing the election outcome, and have thousands of attorney's throughout the country ready to pounce when the election is anything close to being .... well, close.
But I better not go there any further... this thread of ours needs to stay free of politics, so we can keep enjoying it.
