I thought we wre basically getting paid for staying awake. I usualy sleep in the evenings but when I get home today the phone is going to be unplugged and I'm hitting the sack. The 12's do it to me, especially when I didn't get much sleep before coming in last night.
I think I sleep better than I ever have since I started on these midnight shifts. My first day in and my last day after I get out od here are my worst days. All the rest of the week I sleep better than I ever have.
I've been on nights without a day shift since the 1st of October. I work a day shift Wednesday, then back to nights. That outta be a fun day.
I dont sleep to well during the day, unless I'm just flat exhausted.
I still do my best sleeping at night.
I have had only one day off a week this whole month. Working nights, one day isnt really off. All that happens is I get to sleep twice in one day. Dont actually get anything done.
On my last day of the week I just stay up till later that night. I usually don't sleep all that great through the day and I sleep in the evenings. That last day though I just stay up and it usually puts me at 24 hours awake. My first day in I never sleep before I go in so by the time church gets out I've usually been awake close to 30 hours. Even for a 24 year old that's tiring. Whenever I try to sleep during the day I get woke up by just the normal course of life, ie: combines, tractors, road traffic, etc etc. The phone never wakes me anymore cause it's unplugged and my cellphone is near me but only people who know I'm sleeping have the number..
If I could make the schedule I would work 2 20 hour shifts with 12 hours in between and get it over with. Or 2 16's and a 4 or 4 10's. I just don't like the 5 8's, it really only gives you one day off no matter how you look at it.
Try 6 12+ hour shifts. That'll make ya happy to work 5 8's a week.
I always preferred 4 ten hour shifts. Hard to find someone willing to give you those kinds of hours.
Only one person would call me on my cell while I'm sleeping.....the kid. She never would unless she had to. She rides me about working so much more than anyone else.
Don't have the problem of having a kid to call me. I shouldn't complain abot my 5 8's, I do like them I think I would rather have 4 10's though or the 2 20's.

Oh yea......its fun. This all started when the owner decided to take a month or two off. He has left civilization. I talked to him a month or so ago and he was on a satellite phone somewhere in Central America. I dont wanna be in ground zero when he returns.
Actually, I refered to this place as a house of cards. Somebody breathes too hard, it just might all come down. We'll see.
