Thanks it's not to bad here allthough Iraq might be safer than Richmond. Been about 6-8 people die here in the past 3 days. Looks like there are several fans of the older gen trucks here that is great. I love the old beuties. And I have a buddie in georgia who is good at finding parts if anyone wants to look for sheetmetal. Also anyone know much about the old unibody f100's? My dad's got one in fair shape.
I am a lifelong IL resident(chicago surburbs) and wanted to see who is from Independance or the Buchanon Co?
MY father was born and raised in Independace and has family there still
I have 4wheeled in Solon and camped at Lake McBride, spent some time in Davenport and Cedar Rapids, too
Well, I'm not in that particular area, but you are in the area I went to tech school, I'm sure you're quite well aware of Universal Tech Institute being right there in Glendale Heights... I went there in 1990, lived in the apartments just to the south of the school for the last half of my time there. I grew up here to the SW of Cedar Rapids, but the area you are after is the opposite side.
I am very aware of UTI and it's students, I see them driving around GH and the surrounding area and at my resale furniture store.
Where are you in CR?
have you wheeled at Solon or DesMoines(MIOBI)
Hey T- Hauler... welcome to "FTE Iowa". I was born and raised in CR - close to Kennedy HS. Dated a girl from Solon once ( SCARY! - her, not the town. LOL), but always had a good time at Lake McBride.... aahhh the early 80's ( the fun I had when I was 17-20. My regular use truck was just roll'n off the line (80 F100).
y, Backbone is pretty cool. I took 2 of my kids and a dog years ago. Had to take help all of 3 of them down in stages. At the bottom of the "Devil's Backbone", there was a nice little stream. Fun.
Iowa has a few fun little "day trips" if you like the outdoors. Another good one in eastern Ia (especially if you have young 'ens) is Spook Cave... it's in NE Ia near Effigy Mounds.
Of course each of my "day trips" includes going through small towns looking for cheap Ford p-ups.
I drive Rangers I've put a total of 300,000 mile on the 3 that I've had.
I had a 86 bought with with a 2.0L and about 50,000 miles. Blew up the motor put in a 2.3L and drove for a 100,000 miles. Wish I never gave up that truck.
I then had a 94 21 months put on 49,000 miles.
Traded it in on my 96, now it has 191,000+ miles and still driving it. It's customiaztion I've done to it. I post a pic when I get a chance.
Welcome, and if you haven't yet go ahead and join the Iowa chapter we can use all the people that want to sign up, and hope to hear from you more. Let us know about yourself, and your vehicles.
