Hey guys,
Eric here from Boone, Ia. True blue blooded boy here (say that really fast!) Have a 96 F150 4x4 for daily driver to Ames and also a '78 F250 Crew 4x4, sb, that is totally disassembled. It's undergoing a complete frame-up restoration. Would having a work night on some members trucks be considered a gtg or meeting? Would like to get to know some members from this part of the state (and the other parts too) and have regular get togethers. Go 'Clones!

Steve here from Ames. I have a 55 Ford that I brought with me when I moved here from California. I am originally an Illinoian that went to the real ISU, Illinois State.
I just started taking the old rig apart for a long, slow restoration, as this truck is a tool to teach my kids how to fix things, and how to drive a stick. The goal is to keep it somewhat stock, yet fun.
I really enjoy this site and learn quite a bit from it. Thanks to all.

Originally from Vinton, live and work in Cedar Rapids.
2.5 '79 4x4s -- a green 150 that inherited from my uncle, via Ma (351M, C6), a white 150 cab & chassis (sans interior, drivetrain, and bed) that I bought on ebay, and a 250 frame & drivetrain (351M maybe 400, C6, t-case) that I also bought on ebay and have to go pick up this weekend. Oh, and an '01 Dodge Dakota daily driver.
Plans change by the hour, but the current plan is to put the 250 frame under the green 150 and restore it to otherwise (close to) stock, and drop the 250 drivetrain into the white 150 and go somewhat Street with it.
I'm also considering move the white cab, front clip, and differentials to the 250 frame, and swapping the green 150 over to the white frame.
Or I'm also considering...
Anyway, I'm not a mechanic, don't even play one on TV. Don't even particularly like doing my own oil changes, but I'm having fun with these.
So far on green (I need to name them) I've replaced the rear springs, upper shock-mounts, and rear midframe crossmember. Shot the bed-area of the frame with Right Stuff (Ospho knockoff) & painted with Rustoleum Rusty Metal primer. Cleaned 1/4" - 3/4" of mud, grease, oil, and whatnot from the bottom of everything and the engine, did the rear brakes, a tune-up, and (shocking to everyone) rebuilt the carb. Can't get the carb adjusted right because I can't find any specs D9TE-AMB, and just plain done messing with it because the bowl is cracked.
Oh, and I let a buddy try to repair the swiss-cheese frame. I have to take blame because I assumed that since the junkyard springs fit my frame, the frame they came off of would be the same size. Umm... nope. Ooops.
Mark
PS -- it's "tower" as in "tow-truck"

My name is Trent. As my location says, I live in Illinois. And as the avitar shows Rushville (yeah, that's what it says on the water tower). I'm a member in the Illinois chapter and the Indiana chapter, but live closer to many of the regular posters on the Iowa chapter section so thought I'd drop in.
My truck is a 1968 F100 Ranger. I have plans for doing some modifications, but nothing to change it's classic lines too much. My wife and I just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and we've got a couple of boys. And I think that's about it.

Thanks for the service Jonathan, good luck at UNI. Might see you if you happen to go to the ISU vs. UNI games. As for you Roger, why go to U of I for engineering, we all know ISU is the place to go...we are all farmers, vets, or engineers up there, hahaha. Anyway, good luck to both of you, I'll be in class just like you guys come fall.
