Yes it would. Both are designed to release pressure when it gets to a specific point. Less pressure = turbo spins slower

or overspins trying to provide the MAP for the power you are demanding. If you have an oversize exhaust and not enough back pressure, the variable vanes will not open all the way causing an overspeed effect. Overspeed and overtemp and you have straightened out turbine blades.

Has anyone had the downpipe out of an 04 and compared it to an aftermarket? I was reading some posts about it being less restrictive and wondered if Ford had redesigned it sufficiently large to accomodate the 100hp program for non-towing use? Anyone "pyroed" it to know?

incorrect. the blow off valve releases pressure against the compressor which lessens the load. this makes the turbo spin FASTER. the only way to slow a turbo is torelease exhaust gas before it enters the turbine inlet. ergo...wastegate. we dont have room for one. but u could have an exhaust shop build a extention pipe down from one of the up-pipes, and weld on a mounting flange.

besides, the only way ur gonna make more power is w/ more boost, and why would u want to bleed that off??????? ur not gonna over spin it. it will stop boosting before u are even close. (efficiency of the turbo will drop, dramatically)

the only machines that need to be concerned w overspooling are extreme performance like super-farm and pro and super-stock pulling tractors.
u guys got a loooooonnnng way to go before u get to that level. i think its kinda cocky of all of u to even think u have enough juice to overspool a tuba.....

I just had turbo back exhaust installed today. It was goning to be the first of mods but after driving it not sure I need programmer, performance was unbelivable. The system was from Diesel Performance Products. Talked with tech before install, asked about over spooling turbo. He said that was number one question for 6.0, also said he has install over 100 exhausts since they became available, with not problems. Plus manufacture would back up product and any parts of engine should there be a problem. So I guess I didn 't answer question about what is best, but sure do like sound and performance of my exhaust. Just kidding about programmer just not sure which one I want .
