Now hold on a minute! My truck is a 1993 F-150 XLT with a 302 v8 and a E40D transmission. Are you telling me I can use the Ford Racing MAF conversion kit made for the Lightning on my truck? That saves me alot of money if I can use that.
Lindsay...you are the first person I've heard that has used the GEN 1 kit on a non-Lightning truck. If all that is needed is the Y-pipe then that's great!
One thing I like about it is that it comes 30lb injectors and an 80mm air meter that is calibrated for those injectors, and one computer that controls everything....It's also been very easy to tune with the software I have.

yes the air box fits. if you want i can take i picture of it. it is a stock air box w/studs for the meter. let me know & i will send them.

yes i am also the only person that i know of too. "It's also been very easy to tune with the software I have." what are you tuning & w/what software.
speaking of tuning ecc4's, the hardware used for programmers, does anyone know if you can build your own or do you have to buy one for the 400.00 or so?
Also, I thought you had to do something special for the A4OD trannies. That is awesome if this is a fix and addresses all that.
I'm using SCT to tune it, and it has worked out very well thus far. I upgraded to 42lb injectors, Powerstroke Diesel Intercooler and a Pro-M Blow Thru air meter without any major difficulty. The Ford air meter that comes with the kit isn't "boost friendly". It pegs out right around 6 psi, and then the A/F ratios go lean in a hurry.
SCT (Superchips Custom Tuning)...and you can tune everything inside that PCM...trans included. I think I've counted well over 40 different tables/functions/scalers, for the trans alone. I think there's 320 ways of tuning that PCM and this software has control over everything! It runs $800, but you also get definitions for almost everything inside the PCM, plus SCT will give you a base file for your combo to get you started, so you're not tuning in the dark. I was skeptical at first, but it is a very powerful tuning tool that is extremely easy to use.
Sure Lindsay! I'd love to see pictures. I was a little worried because the 302 XLT and the Lightning motors have completely different upper manifolds. I figured the air box that came with the kit wouldn't fit. This is great to know though. Man...30lb injectors. That would be incredible.
You dont get the injectors with the kit though and only need them if you are pushing loads of air through the motor (forced air induction) or severely modified motors.
Tuner sounds cool but 800 bones.. ouch. I am going to get ECC tune. Will let you know how that works in about a month when I get my motor together and in.
yes you get 30# injectors w/the kit. any modifications you can use 30#. 36&up you run into problems.
dalamitition i will get those in my gallery tomorrow i will let you know here when they are there.
blurry i will keep that in mind. i will have to get that. i was talking to a friend that has a mustang & a programmer. we were going to see if it would work on mine cause i have a manual tranny.
The Ford rep told me injectors are not included with the kit. That was for the 88 bronco with AOD tranny. Maybe lightning is different, I dont know.
And as far as meaty injectors I have read many tiimes the following advice on injectors.
"If the computer is programmed for a specific injector slope and you change injectors, what happens? The EEC runs its program and determines the exact amount of fuel to add to the air. Trust me this gets real accurate, we are talking grams of air per second. Unless you reprogram the computer (with an EPEC, eec-tuner, or AutoLogic chip) to change the injector slope in the program you will cause the injectors to flow an incorrect amount of fuel.
But we can fix this with adjustable fuel pressure regulators, right? No! You could compensate for this by changing the fuel pressure, but how well are you at altering injector slope with a screwdriver? You’ll end up getting what you think is good idle eventually, but will only make things worse on the rest of the driving conditions.
But that fancy O2 sensor will notice the incorrect A/F ratio and fix it? If you assumed that the EEC adjusts the A/F ratio all the time with the O2 sensor, remember the O2 sensor is only used in closed loop which is during cruise on the highway. So you will only get the correct A/F ratio at those times.
I suggest you leave the injectors alone unless you have means to tune it (TwEECer or EEC-Tuner, AutoLogic chip) And If your trying for more than 300HP shouldn’t you be looking for an EFI tuner anyway?"
That is a quote, not from me. Also in several books I read. I dont know how true it is, I just go by the advice.

Reason: update
The injectors are included in the lightning kit, and everything is programmed to account for the larger injectors. That statement is correct though, you can't just swap injectors and have everything work correctly.
