Well I hope people that have doubts about the 6.0 are reading this to put there minds at rest. Yes there are problem free 6.0s. Forget the duramax forget the cummins get a powerstroke. No Ford did not pay me to say this. Just a proud Ford guy.
Tim, I took it to the dealer for the tranny service. They did the flush/fill and filter change. It took 16 quarts of fluid. I didn't want to fool with that one myself. Automatic transmissions are black magic to me. Just about the only thing on a vehicle I won't try to fix.

Can we send an oil sample in on these.......or is just not worth it.
Yes, they will do analysis of the tranny fluid also. I had a senior moment when I had mine done and forgot to ask for a sample. I've been kicking myself ever since. I think Jeff had his tested when he changed. I'm waiting for the parts to come in for the ground strap recall.
I use to have the same hesitation. Especially with urban rumors, ie... when you drain the fluid sometimes it just doesn't work when you refill it? Who thought that one up?
Anyway, after looking at the mechanics manual for the Aurora's tranny, and some research on the web, figured it was less complicated then most modern four strokes. Being able to picture how it works really helps. Did a shift kit upgrade to the 'stang and have been doing my own tranny service ever since. No rebuilds yet, new autos are pretty amazing, got over 200k on two cars. As long as you change the fluid and make sure the tranny's are cooled properly they seem to last for ever.
So if you ever get the hankering, I suggest you give it a go. Can't really hurt anything. Just change the fluid in a really clean environment. I did a fluid change one time in my brother's sand floor barn, dumb thing to do, nothing bad ever happened, just wasn't too smart.

After two weeks 6 days of stress and anxiety over truck choices I bought my 04 F-350 C.C. 4x4 6.0 5spd SRW. I almost bought the Dodge because of the add prices, big price differance, but then found the exact truck I really wanted on an add this weekend. Cab space was a big part of the decission. While looking at the Dodge my sons 9 & 10 got in and announced were getting the Ford! My younger son said he'd pay the difference! My 10 year old could hardly sit in the middle seat position in the Dodge and not even in the Chevy. WELL IT'S 58 MILES AND NO PROBLEMS. DRIVES GREAT, RIDES GREAT and we can't wait to get it off road or tow our 26' Sea Ray cabin cruiser out to California for some scuba diving at Catalina.

You will love the truck..........hang out here and enjoy FTE
Oh and by the way I did not make/let my 9 year old son pay the differance in the price to upgrade to the Ford. 9 years old and a Ford man already! It was amusing and a bit of a shock to the Dodge sales man.

Ive always been impressed with the crewcab on the superduty. Tons of room in there. As you have stated more than Dodge or Chevy. A think Dodge made a big mistakke in not offering a full size crewcab like Ford. They could made something as big as Ford.I give there truck gurus an F. The most predominate truck anymore is a crewcab. Oh well stupid Dodge. Hey guy smart move . Your going to love that truck.
