I have a 6.0 EXC EB. At 4 k I haven't flashed yet (knock on wood) and I get 15.5/16.5 city and 19-21 highway. After a return trip from Va Beach (odometer was at 900miles) where I was getting 23 mpg I had my PCM redone. (is that a flash?) At any rate I still get great gas mileage. Truck still runs great. Of course from what I've read here most problems don't start until 5-15k. We'll see. My wife is a certified diesel mech and she's not worried- so I'm not either. 
Anyone have any ideas on what to look out for? These 6.0 bugs have really got me worried.

21k had one inj. go bad, window regulator,& egr went bad. nothing that upset me. 14-16 local,18.5-19.5 highway, but it sucks the fuel when towing 7,000 lbs about 12 mpg. I love my truck

Somewhat like the Demo/Repub thingy -
your mind is made up and NO amount of reason will change it :-)
But I am having a BALL with this truck....
what other 8000 lb truck can go sideways like it did today when I pulled out and THEN saw the guy running up my tail... floored it and it got downright squirrelly !
You KNOW how I hated that :-)

04 F-250 Lariat S/C 02/04 build, just did my first oil change (Mobil 1 5W40), at 3500 mile's. I would have done this sooner, but was waiting for my OILGUARD before changing oil. No problem's to date. Mileage is roughly 14 mpg mixed driving, mostly local.

04 model with 8/29/03 engine build date. No major problems with engine. Love the way it gets up and goes. Averaging around 14.5mpg with mostly city driving. Could be better but I have a heavy foot after stops-love to see rice burners try to leapfrog me.
0 issues thus far . . .
