Formula 1
Carl Haas knows how to win so I am hopeful that he is given the last slot.
Just as important is Ferrari so this may end Vettel's reign. I am not a big Vettel fan as you have probably ascertained because he has not proven himself as a great driver. Statistics can be misleading with exception of course.
Case in point: It took Senna only 130 races to win 65 Poles while it took Schumacher over 200 starts. There is a message in this.
Although bias for Senna it is interesting that over 200 former and current drivers all chose Senna as number 1 of all time.
Yes, it will be very interesting indeed this season.
Take care and Godspeed!

Not based on specs, but on the single best drivers' move I have ever witnessed. It took place at Indy, 1966. He had passed two cars in turn three. There was an amazing amount of debris on the track in the middle of turn four, mostly paper and trash. When he hit that junk the rear of his car swung around on him. The two he had just passed were hot on his gearbox. When he got going backward, he held his line in reverse until the two cars got past him then he backed down off the inside of the track, reved his engine, checked for traffic and took off like a madman. I was sitting there watching this move which took maybe three seconds, but it was imprinted in my memory forever.
He repassed those two cars on the following lap.

Jim Clark would use any car that the team produced. While other drivers would spend a lot of pit time, even the greats of the era, adjusting this or that Jim had an uncanny ability of driving an ill handling car and make it work for him. He just plain drove any car and could win on any given Sunday.
There is only one Jimmy Clark and he was a very nice man outside of the cockpit.
How about Clark and Senna on the same team? It boggles the mind as to what they could have done in Formula 1. Arguably one of the saddest days in Formula ! history when Jim Clark, the farmer's son, died.

P.S. The main reason that I am not a fan of Vettel is he has no competition in reality. Clark had Stewart, Phil Hill, etcetera while Senna had Prost, Mansell, Piquet all capable of winning on any given Sunday. Of course Vettel has Raikonen, Alonso, et.al but he just drives a car that is head and shoulders above the rest similar to Mansell in a Williams in 92 I believe when he won 10 races, a new record. However, the Williams car had active suspension, traction control and other driver's aids.

Eric Boullier is set to become McLaren's new Formula 1 team principal after quitting the Lotus team.
Following intense speculation about plans for McLaren following Ron Dennis's review of the organization, Boullier has resigned from his position as Lotus F1 team principal with immediate effect.
The Frenchman, who has done an impressive job at Lotus despite financial constraints, is now favorite to land the role at McLaren.

I definitely like the new Ferrari and with their legendary and uncanny ability to produce reliable, extremely powerful engines including Turbos we may see Ferrari win both the World Championship but the Constructers Championship as well.
As you know, in my personal view Senna will always be the greatest driver ever and I have always been curious why he did not sign with Ferrari. Now I do remember that when Prost signed with Ferrari 1 stipulation in his contract was that Senna NEVER would be offered a seat.
Now, do you have a team that you feel will take both Titles?
Take care.

Now I believe that you are not impressed with Scuderia so what team is high on your list for the WDC and CC?
Tim, I am amazed at how many Forum brothers and sisters are not interested in the highest form of racing on planet Earth?
Perhaps they would have to see a race in person as we have. Do you remember the Austrian Track where the lap average was 157 MPH?
Obviously the terminal velocity exceeded well over 300 Kilometers Per Hour.
When Schumacher was at his best I saw an interview on 60 Minutes where he was asked how fast the cars run and he stated 300 Kilometers currently at that time. However, when asked how fast the cars were capable of he stated "The top cars could hit 500 Kilometers." Now we know that this is not true.
However, you may remember the Porsche 917 K30 when one of the famous Rodriguez brothers hit 445 Kilometers down the Mulsanne Straight. As you know this is 276.345 MPH on the 8.3 mile straight and then what happens. Now they have that DAMN Chicane!!!! Even a TF/AA did not hit this speed through the traps in 1973!!!! I remember one time at the Winternationals and Bernstein cruised in with his Mercedes 500SL and his plate read, "K301B." If I recall correctly this was in the 90's.
That Porsche 917 K30 produced in excess of 1200 BHP with a boost **** that would instantly add another 100 BHP!
How about Senna's Turbo Honda? A 1.5 litre 4 Cylinder with only 90+ Cubic Inches put out 1200 BHP in qualifying trim. This easily exceeds the Top Fuel and Funny Car horsepower to cubic inch ratio in this year. This equates to 13BHP per cubic inch. As you know Tim this is all FACTUAL information and I am forever grateful for every Formula 1 race that I ever attended; it is truly an amazing sport.
These are just some of the reasons I am not interested in a 600 HP Ford Truck because they are turtles in reality. No offense Forum Brothers and Sisters. I know I will get some flack for this statement because "The truth is always best regardless of the cost." Author Unknown
Moreover, most are not aware of a Steyr Puch Pinzgauer which Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Jeep and even the Humvee are no match for. Even the Mercedes Unimog cannot compete with the 710M or most definitely the 712M. Anyone interested in these vehicles can go to www.swissarmyvehicles.com and see for themselves. Click on vehicles and select Pinzgauer.
When in doubt check it out. Thankfully, now most will know that I am a professional spectator and not even an apprentice participant when it comes to building my 5.0L because quite simply I DO NOT KNOW HOW.

P.S. A F1 story. While attending the Montreal GP in 89 or 90 a car came in for a tire change and left with approximately 30-40 feet of pneumatic hose with an air socket tool for the tires and left the pits then came in next time around and they disconnected the tool but left the hose stuck to the rear suspension!!!!! Obviously he was black flagged by the Marshalls next time around and called it a day. It was hilarious!!
The car is AWESOME and Ferrari definitely knows too well how to build a Turbo. When the FXX came out there were only 20 made for the "cream of the crop" Ferrari owners who were offered this car. Remember when they spent a week, I believe, an Modena for training and at that time Ferrari would not release the performance specifications on the FXX. Honestly, I do not know even now and perhaps you will share it with us.
The Enzo, on the other hand hit 217 MPH and when I went to Beverly Hills Ferrari I asked a salesman when I could see an Enzo and he stated that the owners are notified in advance of delivery and after checking fluids, etcetera, they were in the hands of the owners and down the road but I have seen 2 in Southern California while on the Freeway. Of course this was close to Beverly Hills.
I will run out of "hot air" one of these days but at 60 years old I fondly remember real racing and always will even though you could look into one of my ears and see out the other!

Way cool car it is ...very unique in its design.

So many do not understand the rules and fail to realize after every race and before the next 60% of the car is usually updated, many times they are trying 1500 different parts in those two weeks, the other part that is not liked except by F1 fanatics is the politics. F1 is all about politics and it really is part of the experience.

I saw a 917 up close and was amazed how in so many ways it was a bit crude but damn fast.....after that I really started looking at that ear cars and many where designed and fab'ed the same way.
