I no longer support this kit whatsoever. I beg and plead no one ever buy anything from Need for Speed. Tony, the owner, is useless IMHO. Follow the link below to read why. I no longer have this kit. I have had to modify it so much, that i am dubbing it my own custom install and kit. For those interested in the supercharging of your 4.2L, be patient! There is a procharger unit coming out soon. They are working out the LAST kinks right now. I can tell you this, from my inside source, the kit will be QUITE a bit cheaper than the vortech.
Garrett
Tom, I wanna talk to you personally about supercharging your truck. Please email me, Ill give you my cell so we can chat bro. Same to you Joe, if you are interested.
humor me ive been out of the loop for awhile......so it is installed right now, even thru all that crap how is it running right now....if so what do u think it gave u, hp I mean....
Sorry to hear you're still having problems Garrett. What's wrong now? Are you still having belt slip issues? Do you have pictures of your setup? I know a lot of guys who add extra pullies so they get a better wrap around the blower pulley. I've got some pictures of my buddy's setup, I gave him some pullies I had laying around and we got some nice wrap around the blower pulley, but I can't find them right now
Good luck man I hope you get it all figured out so you can at least be happy with it in the end (happy with the blower, not NFS!!)
Even though I had slip at boost, i still made 222 RWHP at 4200 rpms in 4th. I put in another idler, which was much bigger. I found the alternator was no longer anchored, because a bolt HE supplied failed. So I will try and replace it tomorrow, and it *should* eliminate the last of my belt slip. I can feel the truck PULL HARD when I floor it. It is kinda cool. I will get yet another picture program to resize them so they are post-able here at FTE. I decided I do not have a NFS vortech kit, but now a custom application vortech for the 4.2L......hehe, makes me feel better about the situation!
Hmmmmmmm, I remember a thread that was once posted asking everyone what we thought your rear wheel horsepower was going to be after you dyno'd it.......hm, yes, I definetely recall that thread.
Well lets see now. I also slightly....no, not slightly, definetely remember estimating a RWH of....of......of.....of......uuhhhh 220!!!!!!!
Although there is a problem with your charger right now, and will most likely produce higher RWH figures when fixed, i still must point out that my guess on the original first dyno run was almost SPOT ON BUDDY.
And, even after you fix the problems with the charger, I still don't think your going to see the figures that all you guys had hoped for, like 300 RWH or even close. I'm thinking the slipping belt will give you 10 more.
So HAH!!!!!
ahhhh, sometimes, ya' know, it really feels good to be right
Garrett, as you can tell, i'm just SUPER busting on you, that's all. Still love ya
I agree with you. You win. My truck sucks, and I wish to blow it up. In fact, its for sale for 13 dollars plus shipping on eBay. What I do want to say is this:
Yeah right sucka! LoL.
I don't agree with you on the RWHP numbers, once EVERYTHING is cool. I want you to keep this in mind; I made 0-2 psi boost during my dyno runs. That equates to approxamately 20 RWHP (according to some caluclations Ive read/been told). I was literally missing out on 4 PSI of boost. So with that in mind, thats another 60 RWHP. Now I know you hate claims and such. But this is basically how you come to rwhp numbers. 1 pound of boost = 10 RWHP. That is the general rule of thumb. This is why I said I anticipate 257 or 263, whatever I did say.
I hope these numbers are true, as Ive seen the partial boost work. I still think I will hit 250+ rwhp. I also think the CHIP Im ordering will be awesome. Ive been in the works to make a race only tune. It will be wicked. Anyhow, enough about that sorta top secret stuff....Whatcha sayin now Tom?????? LoL
So when ar you going ot add NOS to it? and do some other cool crap? I would love to be posting stuff on my mods and all but....alas....I am too broke. I still need to get two of my otehr vehicles up and at least running beofr eI work on this one.
Tom,
you gonna give me a date on when would be best for me to come to Florida? I need a date ASAP
NOS, if I even decided to do it, will be absolutely last. I dont like NOS. I think its like cheating, or sadbagging. I dunno, just MHO. I'll be getting rid of the FMU soon, and chipping..then we will see whos got what
I definitely wouldn't add nitrous to a supercharged engine, not without at least forged pistons. If you do run them both keep the boost low and keep the shot small and you will probably be fine for awhile.
And if you don't make at least 250rwhp once you get everything fixed and running good I will personally come down there and blow your truck up for you
I agree with you man, I simply was busting that my ORIGINAL guess on RWHP was right, that's all. We'll see what kind of numbers you get once it's running right. Also, don't spray a supercharged engine, you'll just be asking for serious trouble. And MOST race tracks won't let you run 2 power add-ers anyway.
Jimmy, I'm just signed a contract on a townhouse last night. It's quite large and should accomodate many Ford Truck Enthusiast Website forum guys at any given time. I close at the end of this month and will be painting and moving in throughout May. So May is not a good month. Any time in April is good, and any time after June 1st is good. If you come down after I get the townhouse, the place is alot bigger than my current place so you'll have alot more room to hang out. So anytime this month, or after the end of May is good. The weather has been excellent down here lately too.
